A couple of weeks ago, it was reported that the WB Games MontrealBatmangame would be a reboot that would kick off a shared DC Games Universe. Now the same person that broke that news has suggested that the newBatmangame will potentially feature a massive open world.
According to James Sigfield of Geeks WorldWide, WB Games Montreal was once developing aDamian WayneBatmangamethat was scrapped. That game was set to feature a “massive” open world Gotham City. It’s unclear if theBatmanreboot that WB Games Montreal is working on now will feature that big of an open world, but Sigfield has said that it will “at least be a little bigger” than the open world seen inBatman: Arkham Knight.

It remains to be seen howBatmanfans will react to another open worldBatmangame.Batman: Arkham Knight’s open world elements were actually a source of criticism for the game, with somedisliking the Batmobileand generic open world missions over the more focused, linearBatman: Arkham AsylumandBatman: Arkham City.
Since WB Games Montreal has yet to officially announce itsBatmangame, fans should still take any information about it with a grain of salt. It’s possible that the newBatmangame isn’t a reboot and doesn’t have an open world, but we won’t know for certain until an actual reveal happens. In the meantime, Sigfield’s earlier reporting points to other potential revelations about theWB Games MontrealBatmangame, and it will be interesting to see if they’re accurate.
For example, Sigfield has claimed in the past that thenewBatmangame will have co-opwith a playable Batfamily. Specific Batfamily members haven’t been named, but it’s possible this will include popular characters like Batgirl, Nightwing, and maybe even Robin. Again, fans will have to wait for an official announcement from WB Games Montreal to find out for sure.
