MultiVersushas delayed the release date for new fighter Gizmo from theGremlinsfranchise, who was originally set to join the roster on Tuesday, September 6. Previous leaks suggested thatMultiVersuswould be adding Gizmo fromGremlins, and it’s since been confirmed by developer Player First Games that Gizmo is indeed coming to the game, though fans will have to wait a bit longer than expected.

MultiVersusstarted teasing Gizmo’s addition to the game about a week ago, and this took many fans by surprise. After all,MultiVersushad already confirmedStripe fromGremlinsfor the game, so many assumed that would be it for the horror comedy franchise’s representation. Stripe is still without a release date, butMultiVersusfans can look forward to playing as Gizmo starting Thursday, September 8, assuming there are no more delays.

The developers made this announcement on officialMultiVersussocial media, sharing a brief video of Gizmo along with the news. Theoriginal Gizmo teaser trailershowed the fluffy critter peeking its head out of a box, and it seems Gizmo will be spending a lot more time in the box, if the video is any indication. Though brief, the video shows gameplay of Gizmo still in the box, shaking, with a golden aura around him.

Gizmo will be the second newMultiVersuscharacter for Season 1, right afterMorty fromRick and Morty, who joined the roster last month. Besides Gizmo and Morty, developer Player First Games has confirmed at least three other characters that will be joining theMultiVersusroster in Season 1 in the form of Black Adam from DC Comics, Stripe fromGremlins, and Rick Sanchez fromRick and Morty. Unlike Gizmo, none of these other characters have release dates at the time of this writing.

Besides new characters, developer Player First Games is also gearing up to add new game modes to the crossover fighter. Again, these new modes still lack release dates, but at some point during Season 1,MultiVersuswill be adding Arcade and Ranked modes.

MultiVersusSeason 1is scheduled to last until November 15, so this new content can come at any time within the next few months. It’s likely that the updates will be spread out, and there’s always a chance new content could be delayed, as we’ve already seen with the Arcade and Ranked modes and now Gizmo. Fans of the crossover fighting game will just have to be patient while they wait for more info on when this will be available.

MultiVersusis out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
