A new piece of fan art imagines what Michael Keaton’sBatmanwould look like in the 21st Century. Earlier this year, DC confirmed that Keaton was returning to don the cape and cowl once again in the upcomingTheFlashmovie.
Influenced by the 2011 comic book seriesThe Flashpoint Paradox,The Flashwill see Barry (Ezra Miller)travel back in time to save his mother, Nora Allen, from being killed. The film was directed by Andy Muschietti (It,Mama) from a screenplay by Christina Hodson (Bumblebee, Birds Of Prey).Ben Affleck will appear in the film as his version of Batman, whileThe Young and the Restless’Sasha Calle was cast to play Supergirl.

Keaton, who is coming off of a performance in Aaron Sorkin’sThe Trial of the Chicago 7, last played the caped crusader in 1992’sBatman Returns.Tim Burton’sBatman Returnssaw Keaton’s Bruce Wayne become romantically involved with Michelle Pfeiffer’s Catwoman while attempting to take down Danny DeVito’s The Penguin. The blockbuster grossed $162 million worldwide despite receiving criticism for being too dark and violent. Illustrator Datrinti posted a hyper-realistic image of Keaton’sBatmanwith a more modern-day aesthetic. Earlier this week, the same fan artist imaged what Calle’s Supergirl would look like in the upcoming film.
Keaton is also reprising his role as Adrian Toomes/Vulture in Sony’sMorbius. Vulture was last seen in 2017’sSpider-Man: Homecoming,where he was sent to prison after being defeated by Peter Parker. In the film’s mid-credits scene, Toomes chooses not to disclose Spider-Man’s true identity to an incarcerated Mac Gargan.TheMorbiustrailer sawToomes greet Jared Leto’s Michael Morbius and asks him if he “got tired of doing the good guy thing.”
Directed by Daniel Espinosa (Safe House, Life),Morbiuswill center on a renowned scientist who attempts to cure himself of a rare blood disease by undergoing an experimental treatment that involves bat DNA. The experiment goes awry as it causes the Nobel Prize-winning biologist to develop pseudo-vampiric abilities and physical traits. The ensemble cast includes Matt Smith as Loxias Crown, Adria Arjona as Martine Bancroft, Al Madrigal as Alberto Rodriguez, and Tyrese Gibson as Simon Stroud. After numerous delays, the film is scheduled to premiere in January 2022.
Several DECU films are scheduled to premiere over the next few years. James Gunn’sThe Suicide Squadwill be available on HBO Max and in theatres this August, while David F. Sandberg’sShazam! Fury of Godsis scheduled to be released in June 2023. Production on James Wan’sAquaman 2is expected to commence in July. The film will see Jason Mamoa, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Willem Dafoe, Amber Heard, and Patrick Wilson reprise their roles from the original film.
The Flashis expected to hit theatres on June 11, 2025.
