WhileMass Effectis a series that takes fans to an immensely deep galaxy filled with rich lore and lets them play through a story about saving said galaxy, a lot of the franchise’s fans are infatuated with it because of the companion characters that join Shepard aboard the Normandy. Some of these companions can act as romance options inMass Effect, while others remain firm friends. However, all ofMass Effect’scompanions can be taken out on missions, and most are appreciated heavily by fans.
One fan has taken their love forMass Effect’s squad mates to the next level, creating impressive tributes of the characters in stained glass. So far, the creator has put together three unique art pieces depicting some of the companions from bothMass Effect 1and2. Beginning the collection was Garrus, one of theMass Effect’smost popular characters and one of the few companions that a player can take along through all three games. The former C-Sec officer has had plenty of art pieces made prior to this, such as one that imaginedGarrus as aStar WarsJedi.

Second after Garrus was Mordin, the Salarian scientist partly responsible for one of the most devastating moments inMass Effectlore. By adapting the genophage, Mordin mostly stopped the Krogan race from being able to reproduce. Despite this controversial aspect of the character, he remains one of the most belovedMass Effectcompanions from the second game, andMordin’s choices inMass Effect 2and 3 may impactMass Effect 4.
The final addition so far is a depiction of Liara, who is marked as one of the most popular characters to romance in the entireMass Effectfranchise and can appear in all three games if the player has the Shadow Broker DLC forMass Effect 2. It seems thatLiara will return toMass Effect 4as well, as from the small trailer released in December 2020, it seemed that an older version of the character would make an appearance.
While a few characters such as Liara and perhaps one of the Krogan companions could make a return inMass Effect 4, the likely time jump betweenMass Effect 3and its sequel will mean some squad mates simply cannot return. This will mean somenew companions will be on their way inMass Effect 4, and those additions will have some big shoes to fill, considering the love fans hold for the side characters they already have.
