Hulu recently dropped more details about its upcoming Marvel seriesHelstrom, releasinga trailer and confirming that every episode of the show would indeed be hitting Hulu’s service on October 16th.

Officially announced back in 2019,Helstromis a standalone series set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, featuring on the very subtly named Daimon and Satana Hellstrom. It was originally intended to be a part of Marvel’s “Adventure Into Fear” franchise, that was set toreplace the company’s cancelled Netflix shows. However, after thecancellation ofGhost Riderand the shutdown of Marvel Television,Helstromis the only project from the initiative to see its way to a full release.

Daimon Hellstrom, also known as the Son of Satan, was, as the name implies, the child of Satan. He, along with his sister, had access to extraordinary dark powers due to their lineage. Daimon in particular used his gifts to battle against his father, being most closely associated with The Defenders in the comics. His sister, on the other hand, appeared more frequently in the pages ofThunderbolts, which eventually came to beknown asDark Avengers. The history of both characters is as extensive and convoluted as one might expect for comic characters that have been around nearly 50 years. It is unclear how much inspiration the Hulu show plans to take from the original comics

The only information currently available about Hulu’s version of the story is as follows: “Daimon and Ana Helstrom, the children of a powerful serial killer, hunt the worst of humanity.” Despite the rather sparse synopsis, Hulu has also dropped a short trailer, which is a bit light on details, but does set the tone for the upcoming show. From first glance, the connection to the comics seems pretty thin, with the only obvious link being the main characters, and even their last name seems to have lost an ‘L’ somewhere along the way.

Despite the unfortunate fate of the other “Adventure Into Fear” projects,Helstromis planned to run for 10 episodes, and to debut during Hulu’s “Huluween” programming block, with all episodes available from the word go. It should hopefully tide over hungry Marvel fans who’ve lost sight of the next big MCU project during quarantine, and will hopefully be an exciting show in its own right.
