So far, it’s felt like Sony has been dragging its feet when it comes to the PlayStation 5 reveal. The company has shown off very little of the console despite a heap of supposed leaks and rumors about the system itself. APlayStation reveal event is rumoredfor next month, but there’s still little to go by. That is unless a very convincing image turns out to be real.
An image of a bizarre-looking console bearing the PlayStation logo has been circulating lately, leading many to believe that it may be the final design of the PlayStation 5. The console has a faint resemblance of a cross between the Xbox 360 Slim and a launch edition PlayStation 4, which is an interesting mash-up. If the image is real, it’s a bold look for the next-gen console, which may turn some off the system. Of course, there’s no official confirmation that that’s the case, so it’s best to take the image with a major grain of salt. There have been hints that thePS5 event is coming soon, so there shouldn’t be that much longer to wait before fans see the console.

It should be noted that some have pointed out amajor flaw with this leaked PS5 design. There are some that believe it wouldn’t be able to support the PS5’s rumored 2GHz CPU without overheating issues, which would cause major problems for both Sony and its customers. That’s a big indicator that this may not be the final design of the system, though fans will just have to wait and see.
While subjective, the general look of the leaked PlayStation 5 is pretty strange. The semi-butterfly shape just seems a tad strange, so it’ll be interesting to see if it really is the final design. The photo is convincing, but better fakes have existed for consoles in the past.Sony is teasing a satisfying games lineup for PS5, so that may be enough to make up for the strange design if it turns out to be real.
Fans will know soon enough what the PlayStation 5 has in store. Again, the image should be taken with a grain of salt, but it does look pretty legit. It may not be the best-looking thing out there, but at the end of the day it comes down to how good the system’s games actually are.
