During Disney’s big Investor Day announcements, the company knocked outquite a few new show revealsone after another after another. One of these was not a huge surprise however, as it had been rumored and whispered about by quite a few folks in the industry for a while. That’s right, Disney has finally confirmed what was suspected for a long time: a Lando CalrissianStar Warsproject is indeed coming to the Disney+ streaming service.

In a rare turn of eventshowever, the official revealactually gave less information than the initial leaks. While Disney did confirm that some kind of “event series” calledLandowas in development, there was almost no information about when it would arrive, what it would be about, or who would be playing the title role of Lando Calrissian himself. Of course, the obvious big star would be Donald Glover, who played the character inSolo: A Star Wars Story, and has been rumored to be involved in a Disney+Star Warsshow for a while now, but Disney wouldn’t say one way or another if that was the case. It is also possible that Billy Dee Williams might be involved as well, or perhaps some completely new actor will be playing the character. Without more concrete information, it’s impossible to say for sure.

That said, several sources were very convinced that Donald Glover would be involved in this project, and the “event series” description does seem to imply a less traditional show structure. If the show really is a more limited event series, that would fit rather well with Glover’s notoriously busy schedule, as he rarely makes time for long-term appearances on TV shows anymore. The actual announcement of the show only used a sizzle reel of past appearances of the character and no new footage that might give any hints about who will star in the show.

Either way, it seems as thoughthere won’t be much new informationon the project for a while, as Disney’s announcement does say that the project is in early stages of development. Without even a release year teased, it may be some time before audiences see Lando Calrissian take to Disney+. Thankfully it seems there will be no shortage ofStar Warscontent in the meantime to keep fans of the sci-fi franchise occupied.
