Twitchstreamers Kyedae Shymko and Daphne “39Daph” Wai recently showed off their shaved heads. This comes afterKyedae opened up about losing her hair due to chemotherapy, prompting her to cut her hair short live on stream before committing to a fully bald head.

Back in March,Kyedae revealed that she was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia, a type of cancer that affects the bone marrow and blood cells, and has since sought treatment for it. Although she’s been open about her diagnosis on stream and what she’s been feeling while undergoing chemotherapy, Kyedae emphasized that she didn’t want to be treated differently because of her disease and the side effects that came with it. One of them was eventually losing her hair.

In a recentTwitchstream, Kyedae told her viewers that she was ready to shave her head bald because her hair was already thinning, and that her close friend 39Daph was coming over to do it with her. She later tweeted an update that she got the “bald buff” and posted a photo of her and 39Daph mid-shave. Kyedae’s sister Sakura Shymko also shared a photo on her Instagram Story of the two streamers wearing knitted frog hats covering their bald heads.

On April 16, both streamers went live to talk about what happened, with 39Daph flaunting her shaved head and saying she’s thankful that she had the right head shape for her new look. Meanwhile, Kyedae wore a long red wig while explaining why she didn’t stream the head-shaving live, noting that she didn’t want to profit off her illness. Many of their fans complimented their new looks and continued wishing Kyedae well. They also said 39Daph was a good friend for supporting Kyedae.

While she has shown great strength throughout this personal ordeal,Kyedae opened up about dealing with mental health strugglesafter her cancer diagnosis. Despite people perceiving her as strong, she admitted that she feels frightened as well. Fortunately, she seems to have a good support group of friends and family around her, as well as her millions of viewers constantly sending her words of encouragement and support.

On the other, Kyedae’s candor about her diagnosis seems to have brought some positivity within her community too. Many viewers who might be going through the same thing can resonate with her experience and find comfort in her gaming streams. It can also be seen as alesson on kindness for insensitive social media trolls.
