WhileKingdom of the Planet of the Apesis still quite a ways off from hitting movie theaters, the production has continued to add an impressive array of actors to the cast. The latest addition was confirmed as none other thanSeverancestar Dichen Lachman.
The latest installment in thePlanet of the Apesmovie series will release about seven years after the last installment and pick up whereWar for the Planet of the Apesleft off. That means there will be all kinds of different ape societies that have sprung up after the original evolved ape, Caesar, first started allowing his brothers and sisters to gain intelligence similar to that of human beings.

According toThe Hollywood Reporter, Lachman, who has most recently appeared in theApple TV Plus seriesSeverance, has officially joined the increasingly star-studdedKingdom of the Planet of the Apescast. She joins other big names such as Freya Allan, Owen Teague, William H. Macy, and Kevin Durand. At the moment, it’s unknown if Lachman will play one of the last remaining vestiges of the human race or if she will give a voice to one of the many digitally created apes that will appear on the screen
ThenewPlanet of the Apesmovie’s plot has been laid out, and audiences will see a world that has fallen further into the hands of monkeys, gorillas and other apes as the human race continues to be an obstacle in their peaceful existence mainly. According to the official synopsis, there are now so many apes around the planet that different civilizations have risen. Some of those civilizations are loyal to Caesar and even took part in the action featured in the otherPlanet of the Apesmovies.
Still, other offshoots of the civilizations that have sprung up have never heard of Caesar or think that he’s nothing more than a myth made up by others to keep the apes in line. And some kingdoms of apes use him as a figurehead to start their own religions while harvesting and enslaving humans and gathering up technology that has been left behind.
Filming is said to have started already onKingdom of the Planet of the Apes, which means that Lachman is likely quite busy.Severanceseason 2 is in productionand is expected to wrap up sometime in late spring.
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apesis scheduled to be released on May 30, 2025.
