A recent tweet from KFC pokes fun at developer CD Projekt Red’s announcement that it was delaying the release ofCyberpunk 2077again. This comes amid moreCyberpunk 2077rumors that the long-awaited title is going to be delayed another time, until 2021.
The tweet is specifically from KFC Gaming, and is mocked up to resemble CD Projekt Red’s original announcement. The fast food brand has been quite actively involved with the gaming industry as of late, and gamers can currently win anXbox Series X console and KFC-themed controller.

Looking at the bottom edge of the image, it looks as if KFC has stolen the exact template use by the original tweet, just exchanging theCyberpunkyellow for red. The message mocks everything originally said by the game’s developers, nearly word-for-word, just with humorous changes.
For example, one line from the original tweet reads, “The biggest challenge for us right now is shipping the game on current-gen, next-gen, and PC at the same time, which requires us to prepare and test nine versions of it…while working from home.” Meanwhile, the KFC tweet begins with, “The biggest challenge for us right now is creating a literal console that warms chicken.” KFC has been promoting its ‘console’ for a while now, announcing aPS5 and Xbox Series X rival called the KFConsolein June.
Cyberpunk 2077is undoubtedly one of the most hotly-anticipated games in the past decade. Because of this, a litany of companies have collaborated with, or at least given attention to the game. This has spawned plenty of giveaways and licensed merchandise, such as theCyberpunk-themed Razer Viper mouse. It’s yet to be seen if this is just a PR move, or if KFC andCyberpunk 2077have something else in store.
CD Projekt Red is denying the latest round of delay rumors, insisting the game will release on December 10 as planned. These rumors may have been what inspired the KFC Gaming Twitter, as it has been a few weeks sinceCyberpunk’s initial tweet. This latest interaction goes to show how much the fast food industry has been reaching out to the gaming community in recent years. Taco Bell also recently held an Xbox Series X giveaway, and right now gamers have the chance towin a PS5 from Burger King.
Of course, there are many waiting until the holidays to get a new console to play games likeCyberpunk 2077on. Until then, interested players can get free chicken fromKFC’s functioning restaurant inAnimal Crossing: New Horizons.
Cyberpunk 2077launches on December 10 for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One. PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions are in development.
