How To Place Gadgets
Once you have unlocked and crafted a gadget variant, you will be able to use the gadget placement mode. This mode looks different from the version found in the originalSlime Rancher, with the sequel giving ranchers more freedom in where their items are placed.
Thankfully, if you later change your mind about the placement of an item, you may remove a gadget by hovering over it while in Slime Tech Mode. This will give you the option to either pick it up (allowing you to place it somewhere else) or return it to your inventory.
