May has officially arrived, and that means that it is no longer possible for Northern Hemisphere players to catchTarantulasinAnimal Crossing: New Horizons. Indeed, the days of Tarantula farming are over for fans in this region, which may leave some players looking for other ways to make a lot of Bells fast. Fortunately, there is a new option for Bell farming in the Northern Hemisphere, and that is to make a Scorpion island inAnimal Crossing: New Horizons.
For full clarity, a Scorpion island inAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsis a Nook Miles Ticket island that has been manipulated in a way that forces Scorpions to spawn. Considering thatACNH’s Scorpions sell for 8,000 Bells each, catching a ton of them is a great way for players to line their pockets, and creating a Scorpion island is one approach to doing that.

With that established, players can now prepare to create their Scorpion island inACNHby making sure that it is between the hours of 7pm and 4am during the appropriate months (May through October in the Northern Hemisphere and November through April in the Southern). If the timing is right, fans can then equip themselves by putting the following items into theirpockets:
Next, players that want to make a Scorpion island inACNHwill need to find a suitable Nook Miles Ticket island. These islands are accessed by using Nook Miles Tickets, which are purchased from the Nook Stop terminal in Resident Services, at the airport, and the ideal island for creating a Scorpion island is one where there are no water bugs (such asACNH’s Giant Water Bug) and it is raining.
Once such a Mystery Tour island is located, players should go about depleting its resources bybreaking all rocks, chopping down all trees and removing their stumps, plucking all flowers, and picking all weeds. When this is done, the only bugs that should be spawning are Wharf Roaches andAnimal Crossing: New Horizons' Scorpions, and all that is left from there is to keep scaring the Roaches and catching the Scorpions.
To note, a recent change to bug spawn rates means that Scorpion farming is much slower than it was previously, even when using a Scorpion island. That said, fans that are looking for an alternative to creating aTarantula island inAnimal Crossing: New Horizonsmay still be happy to learn that this is indeed an option.
