Fallout 4added settlement building to the franchise for the first time. You can create a bustling city filled with settlers or a heavily fortified vault. The game received a few workshop DLCs after release that added even more items and machines that you can make.
The weather randomly cycles as you explore the Commonwealth, bringing conditions including clear skies, rain, and radstorms. Radstorms will make the landscape a sickly shade of green and build up RADs as you explore in the now toxic environment. Weather Change Shells were added in the Contraption Workshops DLC. Here is how you’re able to use them andchange the weather to yourliking inFallout 4.
Build a Generator
The first step is building a generator in your settlement, which will give power to any devices that you attach them to. Larger generators create more power but take more materials to build, but you only need a Small Generator to use the shells. Here are the requirements to build one. Build a Firework Mortar
Open your workshop menuand go to themiscellaneous section of power.Here you can find firework mortars, which are angled mortars that shoot straight up. Both take the same materials and will work for Weather Change Shells.

Once you’ve made the firework mortar, attach it to the generator to give it power. Highlight the generator and press theTriangle/Y buttonto drag the wire to the mortar.

There are three types of shells that you may make. These are Clear, Radstorm, and Rain Shells, which you can craft atany Chemistry Station.

Now that you’ve made the shells, it’s time to fire them into the sky. Walk up to the mortar and press theSquare/Xbutton to transfer items. The shells will be in the My Misc tab of your inventory. Insert the shells into the firework mortar and enjoy your weather of choice.
