Fallout 76’s Free Radicals Mask is a new armor piece that was added as part of the recently-launchedWastelanders update, and indeed it is one that many players will want to obtain. The reason that the Radicals Face Mask inFallout 76is so desirable is that it is the only headpiece that comes with a legendary effect, though the effect that it has is randomly generated. However, with a bit of patience players can get a Radical Mask inF076with the exact legendary effect that they want.
To begin,Fallout 76’s Radicals Face Mask is a reward that is earned through the completion of a quest called “Hunter for Hire,” which is part of a chain that begins by speaking with Duchess at the Wayward. “Hunter for Hire” is one of the earliest quests that players will encounter from the Wastelanders update, and it asks fans to make a choice: will they persuade the Free Radicals gang to leave the people at the Wayward alone or will they join them.

While some players may feel that protectingDuchess and Mortis the right thing to do, fans that want to obtainFO76’s Free Radicals Mask will ultimately need to get on the gang’s good side. This means obtaining the password to enter the bandits' West Virginia Lumber Company hideout through the optional objective at Anchor Farm and siding with the Free Radicals at every opportunity, including telling Roper that they want to join his crew.
Following these instruction will eventually lead to a confrontation between the Free Radicals and Duchess at the Wayward, and it is at this point that players will receive the Free Radicals Mask inFallout 76. However, fans need not accept the first Radicals Mask that they receive if it does not have a greatlegendary effect, as this final quest step can be endlessly repeated until the perfect mask is obtained. This is done simply by quittingFallout 76immediately after receiving the Free Radicals Mask and then logging back in.
To note, there is indication thatFallout 76’s Radicals Mask is tradable, and thus players that may have already sided with the Wayward in “Hunter for Hire” can still get the item by creating a new character and completing the quest again. They can then simply transfer the Free Radicals Mask over to their main and continue enjoying thenew weapons, new monster, and more that has been added with the Wastelanders update.
