Temtem, thePokemon-esque MMO by Spanish developers Crema, has made quite a splash this month. Its popularity may have lead to server issues on launch day, but that hasn’t stopped players from exploring every corner of its colorful Archipelago. Just like its inspirationPokemon,Temtemis a game full of weird and wonderful creatures for its trainers to catch and battle.

Perhaps one of the strangest of all is the Toxolotl, a ToxicTemtembased on the real-world Axolotl. Axolotl arecool little creatures, beloved by the internet for their cute smiles. Though sometimes called “walking fish” they’re actually amphibians, and are definitely not toxic. The sad truth is they wouldn’t last long on the battlefields ofTemtem, but don’t worry, their Toxic counterpart is one of the toughest out there. Here’s how to get one.

A Clue in the Name

There is only one place trainers can find a wild Toxolotl across all ofTemtem’s Archipelago, and that’s at Xolot Reservoir. The Reservoir is a large area that takes up a lot of the poisonous wasteland that isTucma Island. Within it trainers run a good chance of running into a Toxolotl, particularly in the northern part. Overall, the best place to look is in the clearing shaped like a wheel, with spokes of long grass.

As a ToxicTemtem, Toxolotl has a fewstrengths and weaknessesto be aware of. It will deal increased damage to Water and Nature-types, but less to Wind-types. It also takes only half-damage from Earth, Digital, Crystal, and other Toxic attacks.

Bigger and Better

Like mostTemtem, Toxolotl can be evolved into a more powerful form. Any trainer who manages tolevel uptheir Toxolotl 30 times will be able to evolve it into Noxolotl. Unlike its first form, Noxolotl can’t be found in the wild, and evolving a Toxolotl is the only way to get one. This means that trainers looking to add a Noxolotl to their line-up should make sure to catch a Toxolotl as soon as possible, to get a head-start of the leveling process.

Both of the forms share a similar stat ratio, with strongSpecial Attack, HP and Defense, but low Special Defense. This plays well into their role as the masters of damage-over-time. Most battles with a Toxolotl/Noxolotl will begin with it poisoning its opponent, followed by a lot of tanking as it attempts to outlast them. This pairs extremely well with a Mental-typeTemtem, who can disable the opponent and allow the poison to work to its full effect.
