A month before its release, IO Interactive has revealed the opening cinematic sequence forHitman 3. The game marks the end of IO’sWorld of Assassinationtrilogy that began in 2016.
The brief video does not reveal much in the way of new information, but it gives fans a taste of Agent 47’s upcoming adventure. The video showsAgent 47 and Lucas Greytraveling through the deserts and cities of Saudi Arabia. Grey narrates the sequence, providing hints for what the game’s story will have in store. It seems that the pair will visit several locations in Saudi Arabia, including vast deserts, remote villages, and the sprawling metropolis of Dubai. The sequence concludes with the pair leaping out of a plane over the city.

Perhaps the most interesting part of the trailer is what Grey has to say about the secretive Providence organization. “To it, we were just assets, to use and throw away, to do the unthinkable, the unforgivable. And it never gave us a second thought, until now,” he says, adding that he and Agent 47 have learned the names of Providence’s three leaders. “In their downfall, we lay the past to rest,” he continues, meaning thatHitman 3will see Agent 47 hunt down the members of Providence’s leadership.
Providence has played an important role in IO’sHitmantrilogy. The secretive cabal rules the world from the shadows and has been responsible for a number of coups and crimes, as well ascreating Agent 47and Grey using the DNA of a legendary KGB Agent. It seems fitting that the conclusion to the trilogy will have Agent 47 going head-to-head with his creators and former employers.
For players who may not remember, Grey, formerly known as Subject 6, was raised with Agent 47 in a secret Providence facility in Romania. The pair were test subjects in Providence’s program to create obedient assassins that killed without remorse. During childhood, Grey and Agent 47 escaped the facility together, but were later captured. Agent 47’s memory was wiped, while Grey was thought to have been killed. InHitman 2, Agent 47 reunites with Grey, who helps the assassin regain some of his memory and turns him against Providence. It will be interesting to see whatHitman 3has in store for the two characters in regards to both story and gameplay.
AfterHitman 3is released, IO will shift focus todeveloping the next007title. WhileHitmanis certainly unique from James Bond, IO’sHitmantrilogy featured heavy spy themes that many fans enjoyed, which reaffirms that IO was a great choice to develop the next007game.
Hitman 3will release on Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X on August 09, 2025.
