Microsoft and 343 Industries recently released theHalo Infinitecampaign after a multiplayer beta was released last month, and fans of the single-player experience are discovering several hidden details. One such detail was recently spotted by aHalo Infinitefan who turned on Marines to see what happens after some friendly fire.
YouTube content creator TeamTed44 recently shared aHalo Infinitevideo from the campaign portion of the game in which they attack a group of saved Marines. The video begins just after TeamTed44 attacked the nearby Marines and it’s clear that they didn’t take it lightly. Jumping downhill with an Energy Sword, TeamTed44 was shot at multiple times by the Marines who changed to say things such as “come on, climb on out of that thing and bring it!”

The group of five Marines was ultimately able to defeat TeamTed44 before their shield could recharge, but it took several shots to defeat the Master Chief. Although the Marines fired the majority of their bullets at nothing, several bullets connected with TeamTed44, and the consecutive damage caused the player to die. Some of the Marines had Assault Rifles in this battle against the Master Chief, but it wasHalo Infinite’s Bulldog shotgunthat proved to be the most effective tool in defeating the protagonist.
One of the many side objectives inHalo Infinite’s open areas is saving groups of Marines like the ones in TeamTed44’s video fromHalo Infiniteenemies like Grunts, Elites, and Jackals. These Marines are typically constrained by a power cell-fueled area of effect that wears off once a player explodes the powerful cell. Once freed byHalo Infiniteplayers, these Marines snap into action and help them defeat the remaining enemies in the area and if Master Chief hops into a vehicle, a portion of Marines will join him.
While it’s unlikely that these Marines would have been able to defeat TeamTed44 if they wanted to survive, it’s interesting to see the group of saved fighters defend themselves against Master Chief. This peculiar experiment proves that Marines don’t have the best aim as they missed TeamTed44 more often than not, but with several hits still connecting, these allies are still useful in the bigHalo Infinitecampaign battles. The video also shows that these NPCs were programmed to speak negatively towards the Chief if players fired upon them, suggesting it’s an intentional feature from343 Industries.
Getting a large group of Marines like the one in TeamTed44’s video requiresHalo Infinitefans to rescue captured soldiers, but Marines can be found in other areas of the map as well. Beyond the rescue missions, players will encounter these NPCs at Forward Operating Bases in theHalo Infinitecampaign. It remains unclear whether or not the Marines will prioritize attacking Master Chief if nearby enemies are also firing at them, but this could be a trick to make those firefights a little more intense forHalo Infinitefans looking for a challenge.
Halo Infiniteis available right now for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
