The mainstream acceptance of “nerd culture” over the last 20 years has brought with an evergrowing cadre of celebrities who openly share their fandom. Among those names isSupermanhimself, Henry Cavill, who regularly shares his love for fantasy, gaming, and much more between his social media posts and various talk show appearances. It was the latter, though, where Tom Holland got to see Cavill’s fandom first hand as the latter spoke about his love forWarhammerduring the latest episode ofThe Graham Norton Show.
As far as tabletop gaming go, there are few names as well known both inside and outside of the space as Games Workshop’sWarhammerfranchise. The miniature wargame, which started in 1983, is widely considered the top game in the space where players pit armies of miniatures against each other to see which is superior. The originalWarhammeris set in a more traditional fantasy world with orcs, elves, knights, and more whileWarhammer 40,000drops players in the grimdark, far future where humanity is struggling for survival against alien and supernatural forces, alike.

Cavill gave Graham Norton a quick taste of his love for Warhammer during his latest appearance on the BBC show to promote Netflix’sThe Witcher. Norton asked Cavill about the game, with the latter giving a short summary as the the former takes a few humurouse jabs at the actor. However, Cavill’s short explanations proves to be enough to peakTom Holland’s curiousity who asked about playing with Cavill.
WhileWarhammermay be new to Holland, it is hardly the first time Cavill has gushed about the tabletop game. He previously spoke about it while at WitcherCon, commenting how a piece from one ofThe Witcher’s sets in season two features a chandelier which looked similar to a Blackstone Fortress fromWarhammer 40k’s 2018 expansion.
It is moments like these which has helped endear Cavill to audiences with his earnest love for these properties. He has spoken in the past about how his love forThe Witchergames led to him pursuing the role of Geralt when he first caught wind a show was in the works from Netflix.
He has also joked about his love ofWorld of Warcraftalmost cost him the lead inMan of Steel, saying he was deep into a raid when his phone rang and chose to ignore it to focus on the game. The raid ultimately failed, but it worked out in the longterm for the actor.
