Halo Infinite’s Multiplayer Beta has begun, giving fans a jump start on its first battle pass ahead of the game’s full launch. Amidst the frenzy of news regarding the Beta, 343 Industries has announced just how longHalo Infinite’s first battle pass season will run for.

Over the past few years, the battle pass has become the typical reward-based progression system in multiplayer games across the industry. From the originalFortnitebattle passes, to nowCall of Duty,Apex Legends, and evenRocket League, battle passes give players additional reasons to keep coming back to a certain game. 343 Industries has gained a lot of recognition for how it handledHalo: The Master Chief Collection’s seasonal contentas they are free and never expire, leading fans of other games to request similar modifications of their own developers. Earlier this year, 343 Industries confirmed thatHalo Infinitewould indeed have paid battle passes, though they also will not expire.

In a new tweet, 343 Industries confirms the first season ofHalo Infinite’s Multiplayer will last until May 2022. The announcement comes partway through a series of posts commeorating the launch ofHalo Infinite’s Mutliplayer Beta, and what fans can expect in the immediate future and after the game fully launches in December. 343 Industries writes, “Season 1 will last until May 2022. Along the way #HaloInfinitewill have multiple in-game events with their own rewards and activities.” The first season ofHalo Infiniteis the Heroes of Reach, withHalo Reach-inspired armor and other cosmetic items being unlockable.

Halo Infinite’s first season duration is quite distinct from its competitors' battle pass offerings. For example,Fortniteis currently in Chapter 2 Season 8, which began this past September, and ends at the beginning of December. In comparison, Season 1 ofHalo Infinitewill run all the way to May 2022, a time of six months, or at least threeFortnitebattle passes. This decision can in part be due to thechallenge-based progression system inHalo Infinite, where ranking up is done currently by completing different in-game assignments, and not strictly how one performs in the game.

Importantly, there will be a variety of events inHalo Infinitethat will give players additional gameplay opportunities and content to strive for. As mentioned in the tweet above, the first event is titled Fracture: Tenrai, which will allow players tounlock the Yorai armor, and a variety of other samurai-themed cosmetic items. Between the lengthy battle pass, and a (hopefully) consistent rotation of events, it seems like there will always be something to work towards inHalo Infinite’s Multiplayer. And to top it all off, the full game isn’t even out yet.

Halo Infinite’s Multiplayer Beta is available now on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, with the full game launching on December 8.
