Halo 4came out almost a decade ago on Xbox 360. It marked the beginning of a new trilogy, which Microsoft appropriately named the “Reclaimer Trilogy.” It was the first mainlineHalogame not developed by Bungie, as the franchise transitioned to a new developer, 343 Industries.

Servers for several classicHalogameson Xbox 360 got shut down yesterday on January 13. This affectedHalo 3,Halo Wars,Halo 3: ODST,Halo: Reach,Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary,Halo 4, andHalo: Spartan Assaultto varying degrees.Just before the matchmaking servers went offline, a fan reached out to the community, hoping to unlock their last remaining achievement inHalo 4.

User The Vengeful ‘Vadam on Twitter was missing just one achievement fromHalo 4on Xbox 360. A picture showed that Vadam had earned 85 out of 86 achievements, with “Protect This House” for 30 Gamerscore being the only one remaining. It required players to assassinate the ball carrier within 5 meters of their own goal in a match of Ricochet. Vadam reached out to the community via a Tweet, and many people agreed to lend their support.

In a follow-up Tweet, Vadam posted a video ofunlocking the achievement and getting the maximum GamerscoreforHalo 4. It was the user known as Defensife343 that was on the receiving end of this assassination. Vadam also posted a picture showing that they had unlocked all the achievements fromHalo 3as well asHalo: Reach.Halo 4is perhaps the most special out of them due to this event.

Earning all 86 achievements inHalo 4is no small feat. While finishing the campaign solo on legendary is extremely difficult, some achievements task players with completing mission-specific actions on Heroic or harder. The achievements forHalo 4’s multiplayer DLC are notorious for being annoying. Some involve elements outside of players' control, while others often force them to play a certain way. As an example, “In Crimson DLC matchmaking, get a kill while airborne in a Warthog” is the description for the “Now they Fly?” achievement.

Many people grew up withHalomultiplayeron Xbox 360, and it’s heartwarming to see the community coming together to help Vadam get this last achievement. While it’s disappointing to see servers go offline for these classic titles, fans can still play multiplayer in variousHalogames with relative ease. The servers forThe Master Chief Collectionare online and are unlikely to get shut down anytime soon.

Halo: The Master Chief Collectionis available now on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
