Halo 3is finally available on PC, but this port didn’t just copy paste everything from the original game, it actually added some things as well. The newest discovery in this PC version is the introduction of anew game modifying skull, the Acrophobia skull. While it is no doubt exciting, it must be unlocked first before players can use it.

For those unaware, Acrophobia is the technical term for the extreme or irrational fear of heights, not to be confused with Arachnophobia, which involves things with eight legs and eyes.Halo 3implements this phobia in the most ironic way possible, as the skull allows players to fly.

Acrophobia Halo 3 Skull

As one can probably imagine, flying opens up awhole new world of possibilities forHalo 3,and as such, it isn’t handed out willy nilly. Instead, players will need to complete a challenge to earn the right to use this ability.

In order to unlock the Acrophobia Skull, players will need to kill 343 flying enemies in the campaign mode while playing on normal difficulty or higher. While this may sound difficult, playing through the campaign a few times will unlock the skull on its own eventually. Thankfully, there’s another method players can use to speed up this unlock and get right intoflying around the maps ofHalo 3.

The campaign map called The Storm features a sequence in which a dropship will let loose a swarm of bug like enemies (called Yanme’e, buggers, or drones), that can be killed relatively easily. To unlock the skull quickly, players need simply gun down all of these bugs and then kill themselves to restart the area at the last checkpoint. Doing this a few times will result in 343 kills in no time, just ensure that the difficulty is set to normal or higher. To make this even easier,Halo3’srocket launchercan be found in this room, so have a blast with it.

After obtaining the skull, it can be activated on any of the threeHalogames in the collection. This opens up a huge range of possibilities for players that are willing to abuse its effects. New areas can be explored, newHaloeaster eggs can be uncovered, and aerial vehicles can be hijacked with ease. It will certainly make many of the story encounters trivial though, so as with all the other skulls, don’t use it if looking for a compelling and challenging experience.
