In the game, players get to be an integralmember of the Guardians of the Galaxy, taking on the role of Peter Quill. This means gamers will constantly be in the middle of the action as they lead their underdog band of misfits, who will constantly challenge Star-Lord and make decisions on their own. As Star-Lord, players will have access to Quill’s iconic elemental blasters and jet boots, which enable him to agilely slide and glide over the battlefield. He can also use the unique abilities of the various Guardians to help turn the tide of battle.

Guardians of the Galaxywill feature exploration and action battle sequences, and player decisions will have both comical and longer-lasting, more serious repercussions, with the game reacting to what the player says and does. One of the key elements of the game is that the player will never feel alone on their adventure, being accompanied at all times by members of the crew and their constant banter and bickering.

At the point in the story whereGuardians of the Galaxybegins, the band has been together for less than a year. Over the course of the game, they discover that they have inadvertently created something that threatens the entire galaxy and, during their journey to set things right, the Guardians will visit a variety of planets and meet diversecharacters from the Marvel universe. A number of villains, both those who are well known and those who have flown under the radar in popular culture, will make an appearance in the game.

Bill Roseman of Marvel Games and Dan Abnett, who wrote stories for some of the originalGuardians of the Galaxycomics, have visited the studio at Eidos Montreal to see how the development team has brought these unique characters to life. In regards toStar-Lord’s design, Abnett stated, “I think he’s fantastic and absolutely in the spirit of what these characters are.”

Guardians of the Galaxywill release on July 23, 2025, for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
