Rockstar Games has recently givenGrand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - Definitive Editiona new coat of paint with a list of fan requested visual updates for all three included games. Among these changes came a new look for the barber Old Reece among the newvisual updates forGrand Theft Auto: San Andreas, bringing his look more in line with the original game.
In the originalGrand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Old Reece is a minor character who some fans consider to be a reference to Morgan Freeman given the design of his character model in the first game. One thing that also makes this character intiguing is that he is one of few unique models that can be met outside of a mission, as most unique characters are only found in relation to the game’s narrative.

The change primarily comes in the form of Old Reece’s hair returning to its original grey, something that had been changed about the character when theGTA: Trilogyfirst launched. Before the update, Old Reece’s hair was completely black, giving him a slightly younger look, but also drawing away from the implied Morgan Freeman reference that players had attached to him back in the PS2 version ofSan Andreas. It’s a small change to a minor character that winds up helping bring the original play experience back to players that are revisitingSan Andreas, as well as to new fans visiting the classic title for the first time.
This latest set of updates to has overall been well received by fans, including a rework ofGTA: The Trilogy’s rain effectsand other visual improvements across all three games. Considering that fans had asked for several of these visual updates to be implemented, many players are already looking at these updates as a sign that Rockstar Games is listening to the community. Some players would still prefer that the games had launched with these visuals, but steady improvements can still be useful for the longevity of a title.
Giving Old Reece his original hair back might only be a small gesture to fans that had asked for elements of theoriginal experience ofGTA: San Andreasto return to theDefinitive Edition. With how beloved the three titles inGTA: The Trilogyare, its in Rockstar Games' best interest to make sure that this definitive version of these games are up to that title. Hopefully, there are more updates to come to make sure that the developer lives up to the promise the name gives up to.
