OneGod of Warfan asked others to explain the difference between the death of Ares compared to the deaths of the other Greek gods.God of Waris Sony Santa Monica’s long-running franchisethat features Kratos in his journey against the gods of both Greek and Norse mythology.

God of Warwas originally released on the PlayStation 2 in 2005. In this first entry, Kratos seeks vengeance against Ares, the God of War who tricked Kratos into murdering his own family. The game would eventually have Kratos battle against several other Greek gods inGod of War 3.

InGod of War 3,Kratos brutally wages war against the Greek pantheonand as he kills them one by one, the consequences of murdering them are shown throughout the game. This is essentially what inspired a Reddit user to go online and ask fellow fans of the series to explain the inconsistency in consequences of killing Ares compared to the other gods. In the appropriately titled post, “Why?” the user posts an image that points out the contradiction.

Several fans replied to the post with their explanations. One user pointed out that it could be because Ares was replaced right away with Kratos and that the consequence was the wars that Kratos started at the beginning ofGod of War 2that eventually led to an all-out war against the Greek gods. Another suggested that because Ares' realm of power is not directly connected to the natural world that those consequences are not the same. In comparison, the gods killed inGod of War 3were connected to the sun, sea, and other physical things instead of ideological ones. Several users commented that there was a big explosion that went off after Ares was killed and suggested that the explosion was connected to the fact that he was the God of War.

Regardless of the answer, the original trilogy ofGod of Waris clearly still on the minds of fans. Hopefully, this demand for the games will be noted by PlayStation and there will be a remastered or remade version of theGod of Wartrilogy for PlayStation 5. These games are vastly different from the Norse era of the games in terms of gameplay but do provide deep lore and major story events that follow Kratos throughout his journey into the Norse era as well. Currently, onlyGod of War 3is playable on the PlayStation 4, and it may be the perfect time to revisit the trilogy after the release ofGod of War Ragnarok.

God of War 3is available for PS3 and PS4.
