Genshin Impactis known for the variety of anime-inspired playable characters and many unique ways to build them. Artifact pieces have always been one of the most important parts of a character’s build, especially in the latter stages of the game.
However, acquiringGenshin Impactartifact pieces with perfect stats is almost impossible due to the game’s multiple RNG layers. Adding a new element to the game would surely have a significant impact to the drop rates of specific artifact pieces.

While there is still no official confirmation, multiple leaks have already revealed that the new major update willintroduce a new element toGenshin Impactnamed Dendro. A recent post on the officialGenshin Impactsubreddit points out an interesting problem about the drop rates for Goblets which is one of the five types of artifact pieces that can be equipped. Goblets are a very important part of a build since they can include elemental damage as its main stat. Redditor cLuckb has given two different variations of how HoYoverse might implement the Dendro elemental damage bonus into the drop rate system.
The best case scenario would mean that the drop rates for the two least desired stats, HP and DEF percentage, get lowered in order to make room for the new 5% drop rate for Dendro damage bonus. However, the worst variation of the new system would include decreasing the already low drop rates of the various elemental and physical damage types from 5% to 4.38% so the Dendro damage Goblet can fit in. This would make it even harder to forGenshin Impactplayers to get a specific elemental damage bonuswhile farming artifact pieces.
While fans are eagerly waiting for Dendro to arrive, the addition of a new element would also add more RNG factors to the game. When it comes to decidingwhichGenshin Impactartifacts are acceptable, players usually follow the unwritten 3/4 rule meaning that a piece is considered acceptable if it contains three out of the four desired sub-stats. This rule is less strict when Goblets are concerned since it’s already hard enough to get the right main stat.
According to numerous leaks, Dendro will arrive alongside a new major region named Sumeru. Each of the sevenGenshin Impactnations has its symbolic element and the game’s official story has confirmed thatSumeru is protected by the Dendro Archon Kusanali, also known as the God of Wisdom. Kusanali is confirmed to be the youngest out of the seven Archons, and she is expected to join the playable roster shortly after Sumeru arrives.
Genshin Impactis available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices. A Switch version is in development.
