Genshin ImpactTCG may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but many players surely enjoy this new permanent game mode. Not only challenges with NPC that can reward things like Primogems, but people can even challenge other players in a PvP match, which is something that has been requested since the release ofGenshin Impact.

However, with PvP match existing, it’s natural for players to get disturbed by overpowered meta. InGenshin Impact3.3, the top meta was Ayamiya (Ayaka + Yoimiya), Maguu Kenki freeze deck, and Collei as a Catalyzing support. Due to the immense abuse of these characters, it’s not surprising that they become the first TCG cards that got nerfed inGenshin Impact3.4.

Yoimiya’s Elemental Burst

Yoimiya’s Elemental Burst had its energy requirement increased from two to three, and the Dice needed to cast it from three to four. Previously, Yoimiya and Ayaka formed one of themost powerful pairs inGenshin Impact’s TCG, where players would ignore Yoimiya’s Elemental Skill and prioritize maximizing her Burst, allowing Ayaka to endlessly trigger Melt DMG with her easily Cryo-infused Normal attack. The only positive outcome of Yoimiya’s nerf is having herElemental Burst’s DMG increase from dealing three Pyro DMG on cast into four Pyro DMG.

Maguu Kenki’s Elemental Skills

Both Maguu Kenki’s Elemental Skills got a major nerf, whereboth Skills don’t deal DMG on cast anymore. Instead, Maguu Kenki became an Anemo/Cryo version of Oceanid in the TCG mode. Before adjusting, players had an easy way to abuseMaguu Kenki’s phenomenal ability to apply Anemo and Cryoand then summon his shadows to continue abusing his Elemental application.

Maguu Kenki now only summons “Shadowsword: Lone Gale” and “Shadowsword: Galloping Frost” with his Elemental Skills; the summons would only apply their respective Elements at the end of the round.

Collei’s Talent Card

Floral Sidewinder isCollei’s Talent card inGenshin Impact’s TCG. While it’s not the most abusive card, it held one of many DMG instances Collei held at the tip of her arrow. Collei and Dendro reactions were able to create a strong stream of continuous DMG targeted at enemies for just taking hits. The possibility of triggering these effects still exists, but at a higher cost now. Collei’s Talent cardFloral Sidewinder now costs one extra Elemental Dice, from three Dendro Dice formerly into four now.

Minty Meat Rolls

Of all the nerfed cards, Minty Meat Rolls was the most deserving of this adjustment. Previously, the card was used to lower the Normal attacks Dice requirement by one Unaligned Element, for the entire round; which can be exploited easily. The adjustment changedMinty Meat Rolls’ effect from having an unlimited amount of usage to having a limitation of three usages before the round ends. Duelers can’t exploit Minty Meat Rolls and Gambler’s Earrings instrong decks like the ones that contain Yoimiyaand Ayaka anymore.

Catalyzing Field

Another nerf that mainly targets Collei is by adjusting her Dendroreactions inGenshin Impact’s TCG mode. Before 3.4, When the Electro and Dendro Elements meet, they trigger a Quicken reaction, which creates a Catalyzing Field that increases Electro and Dendro DMG by +1 up to three times. Quicken helped to perfectly synergize Electro and Dendro character cards, making them a favorite choice above all other synergies. Now,Catalyzing Field instances of DMG are lowered from three to two times only. That will balance their overpowered reactions and create more opportunities for other Elements to shine in this game mode.

Genshin Impactis now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
