Playing Cards inFriends vs Friendsis pretty tough to do at first. Thishectic-yet-beautiful pixel-based PvP shooterhas a lot of things going on all at once, and that’s intentional. It takes a while for most players to get used to interacting with both the card-playing and FPS aspects of the game at the same time.

Buff Cards, in general, do make this process a bit easier compared to some of the other card types like Debuff Cards, Joker Cards, and Trap Cards since they just generally make it easier to survive. So, let’s go over all the Buff Cards inFriends vs Friendsand rank them from worst to best so players know which ones tend to help the most overall.

Updated July 4th, 2023 by Jacob Buchalter:While the player base for Friends vs Friends isn’t exactly huge by any means, it’s clear this game has a dedicated fanbase that is in love with it. And to be fair, what’s not to love? The game has beautiful pixel art, a highly-addictive gameplay loop, and a ton of style. In Friends vs Friends, players essentially draw ‘hands’ of cards before every round that they can then play mid-match for various effects. One of the types of cards players can put in their deck are Buff Cards which centered around the idea of buffing the player in some way. The game has a fair amount of different Buff Cards, with some new ones added in the Little Lars update and even more on the horizon, so let’s go over them all and rank them from worst to best.

Different Cards have different ‘Max Levels’ in Friends vs Friends as players collect more copies of the same card, so in the tables below the numbers broken up by ‘/’ such as ‘10/20/30’ represent the difference in the Card’s effect based on the level of the card.

Restores 15/23/25/30Hp and sends a ‘hot card’ version of Love Letter to a random enemy player.

First up is probably one of the most ‘fun’ cards to use in the game, Love Letter. Love Letter is basically a small heal for the player who uses it, but the caveat is that it also spawns a version of Love Letter (that only lasts for the round) to one of the enemy players. If that enemy then uses that Love Letter, another temporary copy spawns in the hand of their opponent.

This can go back and forth and is basically a way to make a round last well, infinitely if both players time their card plays right. But, most times it just makes a round last twice as long and makes the feed of cards played that round very funny to look at.

Reduces Weapon Spread by 45/50/60 percent.

Most players using More Accuracy don’t actually understand what the card does on a mechanical level, so let’s break it down. When More Accuracy is used, that player’s weapon spread, for any weapons they use throughout the round, is reduced by a percentage depending on card level. This means that it’s much easier to hit the enemy with every pellet in a Boomstick shot or to laser-fire focus on them with the Brasshopper. At max card level that’s a 60 percent spread reduction, which is very noticeable on the Boomstick.

Once activated, the player’s bullets will penetrate through walls and terrain for 7 seconds at level 1, duration increases with card level.

When activated, Phantom Bullets makes it so that players can fire at their opponents through walls or really any terrain for a short duration. But, while that sounds great on paper, the situations in which players will actually utilize this ability to the fullest in those 7 seconds are pretty few and far between. However, the ones who do manage to take advantage of this card willlook incredibly stylish doing so, but tt’s just a Buff that only the best of the best will able to make use of.

Increases the Weapon Magazine size of the player’s weapon by 30/37/45/50 percent.

Big Mag, at max level, actually deserves to be ranked higher on this list. But, for the copies of this card between levels 1 and 3, this is the spot it rightfully deserves. a 30 percent magazine increase at level 1 by default is noticeable onweapons like the Laika or the Boomstick, but not enough to give a player a ‘massive’ advantage in the round. A 50 percent increase, however, can turn the tides a bit more.

When activated, time is slowed down for 2.7/3/3.3/4.5 seconds.

Bullet Time is probably one of the biggest ‘double-edged sword’ cards inFriends vs Friends,as well as any other game it’s in. It’s a card that varies in utility based on how well the player ends up utilizing it. Basically, using Bullet Time will (obviously) slow down time for a small duration based on the level of the card, and this allows players to line up headshots, bomb throws, etc without much resistance.

With Mind Blowing, Big Head, the Boomstick, or the Albatross21 Sniper, Bullet Time is a massively helpful card, but more often than not allies in 2v2 tend to use it without giving their teammate any warning, causing them to suddenly take a lot of bullets to the dome.

When used, the player’s head shrinks by 40/47/53/60 percent.

Whereas the Big Head Debuff Card makes the opponent’s head bigger so that lining up headshots is easier, Small Head is a ‘buff’ that does the opposite for the player that uses it. By default, this card reduces the head size to 60 percent of its original size, which makes it a great passive Buff Card that can pretty noticeable impact the results of a round, as headshots deal a sizeable amount more damage in this game than body shots do.

Reduces the damage the player takes from headshots by 70/80/90 percent.

Friends Vs Friends - Helmet Buff Card PNG Overlaid On Image Of Brutal Headshot With Boomstick

The Helmet Buff Card is incredibly similar to Small Head, as both cards are focused on reducing headshots or headshot damage. But, Helmet is more of a damage reduction guarantee rather than a headshot percentage guarantee, which some players might prefer. And, at max level, it reduces headshot damage by 90 percent overall, which basically eliminates the fear of headshots altogether, at least for that round.

Gives the player’s team the ability to Double Jump for 30/60/90 seconds.

Friends Vs Friends - Double Jump Card

Technically Moose Salto starts with a unique variant of this card in play every round, but Moose gets infinite duration on their Double Jumps while players (and their teammates) who use this card only have Double Jump for about 30-90 seconds. But, rounds go by quickly on average inFriends vs Friends, and having 30 seconds toeasily traverse certain mapsand jump around opponents is actually a pretty big advantage. This game moves fast, and if a player can’t line up their shots because their opponent is literally jumping around them at mach speed, then that’s an advantage.

For 8 seconds, the player’s movement speed is increased by 25/30/35/40 percent, their weapons' spread is reduced by 20/23.3/27/30 percent, and their reload speed is increased by 25/30/35/40 percent.

Friends Vs Friends - Energy Drink Card Png Overlaid On Image From Intro Cinematic Of Moose and Haru Working Together

Energy Drink is one of the Buff Cards that has some pretty big effects, but they’re hard to actively notice in the moment, and the duration of the card overall is pretty short. While in effect, Energy Drink increases the player’s (or their team’s) movement speed, reduces weapon spread, and reload speed. Essentially, it’s a flat buff to all their stats except weapon damage, which makes this card ‘good’, but not ‘amazing’.

Once activated, for the duration of the round the player’s team will deal additional damage with their explosives, based on the card’s level.

Friends Vs Friends - Screengrab From Little Lars Content Update Of Bigger Explosions Card In Use

Now, it’s already been stated multiple times in this list that explosions are incredibly powerful inFriends vs Friends. So, anyone would assume that a card that makes those explosions even more powerful would be amazing. And, for the most part, Bigger Explosions is an amazing card.

However, the reason it’s only ranked this high is simply that explosives almost always kill their target if they catch them off guard, so a buff to that already-lethal damage doesn’t change much. However, it does make those moments where the enemy escapes the explosion, but not completely, a bit more advantageous.
