Summary
Following the recentFortniteupdate, fans have taken to social media to decry the user interface changes which most seem to agree makes finding content harder and clutters the screen. Updates and patches are fairly constant for live service based experience likeFortnite, as the developer works to keep the game fresh and interesting to entice players to continue logging in. In addition to seasonal content and battle passes,Fortnitecontinues to update its in-game store with new cosmetic contentas well as promote limited time events for players to check out.
In fact, just this week,Fortnitebrought back its Halloween inspired Fortnitemares event, bringing back the Horde Rush PvE game mode, as well as staples like the Pumpkin Launcher and Witch’s Broom items. This year also features plenty of new quests and rewards to earn, new weapons to check out from Thorne’s Vampiric Blade to the Wood Stake Shotgun, as well as new collaborations featuring Alan Wake, The Nightmare Before Christmas, and horror icon Michael Myers. However, the Fortnitemares update also introduced a completely new look and feel to Fortnite’s menu system, something which hasn’t entirely gone done well with the community.
Over on theFortnitesubReddit, threads from users like Grugstix have started popping up, leveling complaints at the new user interface that was introduced. For many players, the new homebar makes finding the correct mode or game more confusing by cluttering the screen and making standard game modes much harder to find. Many feel that there was no reason to change what was working and while they’re looking for a way to change it back to how it was prior to the update, there currently isn’t a way.
The threads have certainly gained traction as many agree with the opinion that the UI has continued to get worse with each update over the years. There are more than a few comments likening the change to that ofCall of Dutyor a streaming service like Hulu with rectangular box icons displaying in a horizontal line. Others seem to be more upset that theFortniteCreative modestake more priority in the list, making it much harder to find traditional modes like Zero Build or providing a way to pin them to the top of the list.
In addition to the UI, Epic Games has also announced another major change coming toFortniteCreative. Starting next week on October 16,Fortniteis getting age ratings for fan made Creative experiencesthrough guidance from rating boards like the ESRB and PEGI. An IARC questionnaire is being sent out to creators, which will generate a rating based on the responses given and later validated to make sure the creator didn’t provide false answers to earn a certain rating. For any content that is not rated, it will be outright delisted on November 14, making much more difficult, ir not impossible, to be found.
Fortniteis available now for mobile, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
