TheEndwalkerRelic Weapon quests will be linked to thenew Hildibrand quests added inFinal Fantasy 14Patch 6.15. This questline is a continuation of the hijinks of Hildibrand Manderville, Gentleman Inspector. It seems the Relic Weapon questline will involve Gerolt–the drunken master blacksmith involved in creating previous Relic Weapons–and Godbert–master goldsmith and father of Hildibrand. In order to start the quest, players will need to complete the new Hildibrand quests coming in Patch 6.2.
The Hildibrand questlines inFinal Fantasy 14are a light-hearted romp through the silliest parts of Eorzea. The absurd Gentleman Inspector has been stumbling his way through unreal situations since the originalFinal Fantasy 14,before its re-release asA Realm Reborn. The comedic questline introduces iconicFinal Fantasycharacters like Gilgameshand Yojimbo, and spans a whopping 40 quests and three trials, not including any added inBuried Memory.
Players couldn’t believeFinal Fantasy 14was actually adding Manderville Relic Weapons. Previous Relic Weapon quests have often involved side quests and optional content, but few expected them to be linked to Hildibrand. The hilarious questline is beloved by the fans, and includes some of the most absurd andmemorable moments inFF14outside the Main Scenario, and includes a surprising amount of worldbuilding and impressive animation fidelity.
However, someFinal Fantasy 14players are upset with this decision. Relic Weapons are the most powerful weapons players can get during an expansion, save for those fromdifficult raid content inFinal Fantasy 14. While these weapons always required a long grind to unlock, linking them with the Hildibrand questline means players who don’t like or haven’t done those quests will need to spend upwards of 10 hours catching up if they want to make a Relic. That said, Relic Weapons are also optional content, so players can always skip it if Hildibrand’s brand of comedy is not for them.
Final Fantasy 14is available now for PC, PS4, and PS5.Buried Memorylaunches in late August.
