InFallout 76, there are tons of quests to take on. This includes main quests for the story,daily and weekly challengesto earn a fewextra caps, and side quests, which can be picked up as you venture through new locations in the world. One of the side quests available to players is The Motherlode.
In this quest, you’ll learn about something calledthe Motherlode, which requires some repair. To do this, there are a lot of requirements you’ll need to complete, including an exam. If you’re struggling to complete this one, here’s everything you’ll need to do to finish The Motherlode.
Where to Find Motherlode Quest in Fallout 76
To get started on the Motherlode quest, you’ll want to visit theHornwright Industrial HQ. you’re able to find this from the map image above, directlysouth of Vault 76. You’ll immediately receive the miscellaneous quest which tells you to explore Hornwright Industrial HQ.
To trigger Motherlode, head to the very bottom floor of the Hornwright Industrial HQ. There will be aReception Terminalhere that you’ll want to use. Read through all the messages on the computer, and you’ll unlock the Motherlode side quest, which willreward you with some capsand ores for crafting.
How to Complete Motherlode Quest in Fallout 76
To get started on the Motherlode quest, you’ll be searching through the entirety ofHornwright Industrial HQ. Here’s what you need to do.
Search Penny’s Office
To get started, make your way up to the fourth floorand find Penny’s office, which will be to the right of the stairwell. Here, approach her Terminal, and read through the first archived message. You’ll now need to find an ID to access the upper floors, which you can locate on the third floor. Enter the Candidate Testing room on the left, and access theHornwright Hiring Systemat the back.
Find the Senior Executive Exam Answers
To access the Hornwright Senior Executive Exam, you’ll need to first find the answers. In the room directly beside the Candidate Testing room to the left, you’ll find theSenior Executive Exam Updateson the left side. You can also pick up the note to search for the resume later.
Open up your Pip-Boy, and go under Item. ChooseHolo, and play the Senior Executive Exam Updates. Head one floor down, and go inside the room with a computer in the back. You’ll find the exam answers in the desk cubby. The answers for the exam are:
If you’d rather use the resume, head back down to the bottom floor and enter the room on theopposite side of the stairwell. Go up to the archival terminal here, choose Human Resources Database, and click onPenny Hornwright’s Resume.
Deposit the Resume or Take the Test
Make your way back up to the fourth floor where the Candidate Testing room is. You can choose to either place the resume you picked up in thereceptacle on the left, or answer the test questions on theHiring System Terminalnext to the Hornwright Hiring System. After completing one of these options, head to the room on the left. There will be an ID Card Printer on the desk where you can pick up your ID.
Explore the Upper Floor
Now, head back down to the bottom floor. Enter inside theelevator, and activate it to go up to the Executive floor. You’ll want to enter the room on theleft withpink and blue lazers, which you can walk through, then activate the External Connection System. You’ll need to find info about where the Repair Beacon is, which you can find in theRed Research Terminalat the back of the room. ChoosePower Struggleson the computer.
Now, go behind the Research Terminal to find a keypad. Enter'36984’here. You can then grab the repair beacon from the last dispenser beside the keypad.
Deploy the Repair Beacon
Now, head to the room on the other side with lasers. Make your way left, and go inside the elevator. In this room, defeat the two Mole Miner Scrapers, and head to the bottom. Now, deploy the repair beacon by inserting it into the Beacon Launcher.
After the motherlode leaves, head to the left where you can collect the Motherlode’s gift in theDocking Station Dispenser. Upon completion, you’ll receive the following:
