In late 2020, at The Game Awards, developer Saber Interactive revealedEvil Dead: The Game, an asymmetric multiplayer horror game inspired by titles likeDead by DaylightandFriday the 13th: The Game.Evil Dead: The Gamehas since confirmed that Ash Williams actor Bruce Campbell will be included in the game, as well as many of the series' original cast. Yet asEvil Dead: The Game’s release window approached, multiple times, the game has been delayed – and it appears it’s doing so once more.According to an official announcement made viaEvil Dead: The Game’s Twitter account, it will no longer bereleased in February. The only reason cited for the delay is that the development team at Saber Interactive wants to “deliver the best possible experience,” which is developer shorthand for any number of reasons. At the very least, it can be assumed Saber will take the extra time before launch to makeEvil Dead: The Gamebetter than it would have been otherwise.RELATED:Evil Dead Appears To Be Missing One Important CharacterTo Saber’s credit, it has already announcedEvil Dead: The Game’s new release date. It’s not a tremendous delay, butEvil Deadfanswill certainly be waiting longer than expected.Evil Dead: The Gamewill now arrive on May 13, a delay of over two and a half months. May 13, perhaps not coincidentally, happens to be a Friday the 13th.

SinceEvil Deadfans have been looking forward to February for some time, Saber does want to offer something during the monthEvil Dead: The Gamewas supposed to launch. As such,Saberhas confirmed that it will be sharing a new trailer forEvil Dead: The Gamein February. It’s not much, but it’s more than nothing. The trailer will hopefully make it easier forEvil Deadfans to stay patient until mid-May.

Evil Dead: The Gameisn’t the only title delaying itself out of early 2022. Several releases are escaping the months of February and March. While most are citing the need for additional development time, it’s worth acknowledging that these months are packed with major releases, likePokemon Legends Arceus,Dying Light 2,Horizon Forbidden West, andElden Ring. A May release will giveEvil Dead: The Gameroom to breathe.

A May launch will also give Saber much more time to shareinformation aboutEvil Dead: The Gameand build up some excitement. The delay likely caused advertising for the game to be pushed back, but even then there’s been little hype built for what could be a big release with the right push.

Evil Dead: The Gamereleases May 13 on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
