Summary

A couple of weeks ago,Insomniac Gameswas hit with one of the biggest leaks the gaming industry has seen. Pretty much its entire release slate for the next decade was shown off, an entire build ofMarvel’s Wolverinewas spread across the internet, and all sorts of tidbits about the future of Marvel games were revealed. While there’s a lot of information already, based on some of the leaks, there may still be plenty more up Insomniac’s sleeve.

One of the leaks mentioned the exclusivity of the X-Men brand.Insomniac Gamesis currently developing a fully-fledged X-Men title, and because of that, the IP will be exclusive to PlayStation until 2035. But the X-Men game is supposed to hit store shelves in 2030 with a sequel in 2033. That leaves space for multiple titles before that license expires, so maybe the studio has even greater plans for the IP.

Insomniac’s Next Ten Years is Filled With Marvel Games

While some fans may want Insomniac Games to focus on its original IPs, the studio seems to be going all in on the Marvel brand for the foreseeable future. Now thatMarvel’s Spider-Man 2has finally released, the studio isfocusing its attention onMarvel’s Wolverine. Once that releases, supposedly sometime in 2026, there are plans for even more Marvel games that have yet to be officially revealed.

The massive Insomniac leak revealed that the studio is working on multiple new Marvel games alongside a couple of new IPs. In 2025, the studio is hoping to releaseMarvel’s Venom, which will likely be similar toMarvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. In 2028, it hopes to releaseMarvel’s Spider-Man 3,followed bya brand-new X-Men-focused gamein 2030. Following that, there are a couple of new IPs and aRatchet and Clankgame before the studio releases the second X-Men game in 2033.

There Are Probably Plenty More Marvel Games Yet to Be Announced

There are a lot of Insomniac Marvel games for fans to look forward to. As long as they are able to maintain the same level of quality astheMarvel’s Spider-Manfranchise, then fans are definitely in for a treat. And even though that does seem like a lot of titles, there are likely plenty more Marvel games in store.

While it will be a while before Insomniac officially reveals any of these titles, there have probably been plenty of discussions about where the studio wants to take the Marvel brand. As of now, it currently hasaccess to the X-Men IP until 2035. If the second X-Men game launches in 2033, that leaves the studio with two more years of exclusivity. Along with that, there is supposed to be a three-year break between X-Men titles, which will be broken up by a brand-new IP.

These new IPs could be anything, but there is an extraordinarily strong chance they are Marvel-related. Since Insomniac has the exclusive license, it probably wants to use it. So, the studio may have plans for other mutant spin-off titles similar toMarvel’s WolverineandMarvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. These new IPs could be anything froma Storm or Cyclops focused gameto a Deadpool or New Mutants adventure.

It will be exciting to see just how Insomniac plans to use the X-Men IP going forward.Marvel’s Wolverinewill be its first foray into the mutant side of things, so hopefully it is able to deliver. After that, fans will likely be clamoring to see where this X-Men adventure takes them, and while they will have a little while to wait, there seems to be no shortage of Marvel games coming their way.
