TheEpic Games Store’s mission to deliver free games to users of the storefront week after week continues through mid-June. Two more free games have now been revealed, to be unlocked starting on Thursday, June 25. Those two games areAER: Memories of Old, a beautiful flying game, andStranger Things 3: The Game, the counterpart to the TV show’s third season. These games and more will be available entirely free for those with anEpic Games Storeaccount.
AER: Memories of Oldis an absolutely beautiful game from developer Forgotten Key, released in late 2017. In it, players take on the role of a young woman who has the power to transform into a bird. Gameplay involves a mixture of platforming and puzzling as the woman, as well as flying and exploring as the bird. Heartbreakingly, despiteAER’s outstanding reception and multiple awards, Forgotten Key closed in early 2019 as it couldn’t find a publisher for another game.AERserves as a reminder of the studio’s incredible work.

Stranger Things 3: The Gamewas released in mid-2019 and is as fun as it is curious. Based on theStranger Thingstelevision show, it adds to the experience with all-new quests and character interactions. But at its heart, it’s just a cool retro adventure game with two-player co-op, 12 playable characters, and great pixelated graphics. It’s fun not just forStranger Thingsfans.
For those looking to play something while they wait for next week’s free games to unlock, the Epic Games Store is currently offeringPathwayfor free.Pathwayis a tacticalrogue-litewith turn-based combat set in the 1930s. It has 16 unlockable characters and hundreds of encounterable story events to experience. It’s the perfect option for wasting some time.
The Epic Games Store also has another free game in the works, but no current timetable for its release.The Escapists 2was originally planned to also be available for free this week. Unfortunately, a bug of some kind caused it to be pulled at the last second. It’ll still be made available for free eventually, but the bug needs to be fix first.
Epic’s plan to continue putting out free games week by week will assuredly last for quite some time. The original plan was to stop theweekly free gamesin 2020, but then they simply didn’t stop. As such, expect another wave of free games on theEpic Games Storeeach Thursday going forward until Epic says it’s time to stop.
