AnElden Ringplayer using a mage build for the very first time defeated the hidden boss, Dragonlord Placidusax, in seconds by casting only one spell for the entire fight.Elden Ringcan be played in a variety of different ways. There are countless builds that players can use or create for themselves and hundreds of bosses to face throughout the journey. Playing the game in an entirely different way is how many players manage to beat the game upwards of five times.
Mage builds are extremely common inElden Ring. They are somewhat squishy, meaning that they do not bode well when faced with a heavy attack coming their way. However, mage builds output some of the highest damage that can be done in the entire game. This makes them the ideal option for those looking to take down bosses in a short period of time. Many boss encounters such as Maliketh and Godfrey are extremely difficult for mages due to their high mobility. However, other boss fights can be trivialized with the use of specific sorceries, such as the Full Moon Sorceries and the Comet Azur spell.

In a video posted to Reddit, oneElden Ringplayer managed to defeat Dragonlord Placidusax before it could move. The user, who operates by the name of NoKaleidoscope5327, is seen in the video casting the Comet Azur spell and aiming it at the boss upon entering the arena. As the Dragonlord Placidusax is performing its opening animation, the character is doing massive damage to the enemy with the spell. In under 30 seconds, the fight is over and neither the boss nor the player had moved from their starting positions for the entirety of the battle. TheComet Azur spell is so powerfulthat with the right setup and enough Focus Points, it can rack up over 40,000 damage in no time.
NoKaleidoscope5327 clearly came prepared for this boss encounter. Normally, casting this spell would drain the character’s Focus Points in a much shorter amount of time. However, they had equipped a very specific crystal tear in their Flask of Wondrous Physick to help them cast the spell for a longer period. Players who equip the Cerulean Crystal Tear to their Flask of Wondrous Physick can perform spells without draining any Focus Points for 15 seconds. This combined with the extremely powerful Comet Azur can melt stationary bosses like Dragonlord Placidusax. There are otherweapons inElden Ringthat can melt bosshealth bars, but very few come close to this.
NoKaleidoscope5327’s impressive feat highlights the importance of experimenting withdifferent spells inElden Ring. With enough creativity and preparation, players can overcome even the toughest challenges in the game.
