TheSwordmasteris arguably the best class for solo players inDungeonborne. It has an optimized kit for initiating and pursuing single targets until they break, and can also use ambush tactics thanks to the Elven Invisibility passive.

This class can also equip a wide variety of weapons, and use its sword-powered abilities to nuke targets or fend off flankers like the Rogue or the Druid. Overall, the Swordmaster is great for beginner players, especially those who want a powerful class that’s great at both PvE and PvP. This list offers the details on some of the best builds to use with this class, both to engage in player vs. player action,as well as dungeon crawling activities.

Swordmaster Crossbow

4Dual Wielder Ambusher

Stealth Tactics And Overwhelming Ganks

The Ambusher build for the Swordmaster requires players to maximize Dexterity, to trigger its two main passives:Momentum(35 Dexterity) andCrippling Strike(72 Dexterity). Momentum increases the player’s critical strike chance when hitting an enemy with Psionic Blades, while Crippling Strike slows down opponents hit by this skill. It is important to have at least 27 Will to unlock theFlurry of Bladespassive, which reduces the cooldown of Psionic Blade after shooting 3 or 4 swords at the same time. Users must be dual-wielding Swords and have a Crossbow ready to shoot.

The best tactic for this build consists of crouching near a chest or a strangle point (crossroads, hallways, portals) and turning invisible thanks to the Elven Passive. Once a player approaches, activate Psionic Bladeand charge up to 4 blades, releasing everything the moment the opponent is in range.Quickly switch to the crossbow, and land a bold before switching to dual blades and charge to finish up the enemy player. This is a consistent PvP tactic, but it is also a good rotation to take down strong PvE enemies when soloing.

Swordmaster Longsword

3Swordmaster Champion

Damage Mitigation, Great Melee Reach, Area Damage

The Longsword-wielding Swordmaster Champion build will maximize damage mitigation and single target combat, while also allowing the player to consistently counter flanking opponents thanks to its Stamina passive:Deflection(At Stamina 36). Players can use any of the following weapons:Longsword/Dual Wield, Longsword/Sword and Shield, or if you feel like giving it an extra stat boost,Dual Wield/Sword and Shield. This will maximize the player’s stats until they reach the required strength (54) to unlock its Psionic Blade passive:Healing Scabbard, which increases the amount of health recovery per Psionic Blade hit.

Most opponents won’t expect the player to jump into the fray instantly, but this build allows the user to do as much damage per hit as possible, while consistently mitigating damage thanks to Deflection. Remember to always activateSwirling Bladesto turn on the 50% damage reduction; this way, no melee opponent will dare exchange blows for too long. Whencrossing paths with a Rogue or a Druid, target it with Psionic Blades to chop down their health. Complete the build withFlasks of Shieldingto increase the mitigation, andSmokescreen Flaskto disengage, crouch, turn invisible, and recover mid-battle.

Swordmaster Area Damage (1)

2Pure Swordmaster

Consistent Damage, Utility, Chaser

This is the most practical and traditional way to play the Swordmaster, with consistent melee damage, and a focus on mobility thanks to its high dex stat.Momentum(35 Dexterity) andCrippling Strike (72 Dexterity) play a fundamental role in maximizing Psionic Blade’s utility. Usually, players will want to go with the Longsword equipped, then castPsionic Bladeto reduce targets' mobility. Close in with a charged Longsword swing, and then switch to Dual Wielding to land several fast blows empowered by Momentum’s critical chance boost.

Complete this build withStormorIncendiary Flaskstokeep opponents from engaging, or to dissuade stalkers or flankers from engaging when picking off single targets. Plus, having flasks compensates somewhat for the lack of ranged damage. Mind the cooldown though, as Flasks cannot be spammed.

Shieldmaster

1Shieldmaster

Highest Damage Resistance, Deflection, Bruiser

This is a great build for engaging single and multiple targets, great for kiting PvE enemies, and taking them down one by one. It’sthe most solid buildfor players who want to resist mid and strong enemy attacks. UsingSword and Shield as the primary, and Dual Wield as the secondaryset of weapons, this build has higher stats thanks to being able to equip four weapon slots total.

Additionally, its access to Deflection and Healing Scabbard pairs nicely with the shield’s damage reduction, allowing players to resist more damage and bruise their opponents during long engagements, making sure their own HP outlasts foes'. If opponents flee, target them withPsionic Bladesto cut them down. Complete this build withStorm and Incendiary Flasksto get extra area damage and ranged options to block escaping enemies. Remember toalways carry healing potionsto heal mid-combat.
