There are a multitude of weapons for players to find and use inDragon’s Dogma 2, as the game allows players to take advantage of a wide variety of vocations (classes), most of which require players to use different weapons. For example, one ofDragon’s Dogma 2’s spell-casting vocations, the Sorcerer, uses an Archistaff as its weapon, which, unlike the Mage’s normal Staves, can unleash more powerful Magick attacks to defeat their foes rather quickly. As player Sorcerers make their way through the story and world ofDragon’s Dogma 2, they will likely come across many different Archistaves, some more powerful than others. One of those Archistaves is Anathema, and it happens to be one of the game’s best.
Anathema may not beDragon’s Dogma 2’s best Archistaff, but it’s one every Sorcerer should strive to obtain. This is primarily due to the special passive ability that comes with it, as there is no other Archistaff like it. Thankfully, it can be acquired fairly easily and then used for a considerable amount of time throughout the game until players can obtain a more powerful Archistaff, such as the Lion-Lord’s Archistaff or those obtainable only inDragon’s Dogma 2’s endgame. In fact, almost all ofDragon’s Dogma 2’s best Archistavesare available only in its endgame, which is another reason why acquiring Anathema as soon as possible is worth the journey.
Why Anathema Is a Must-Have for Dragon’s Dogma 2 Sorcerers
Anathema Has the Ability to Inflict the Silence Debilitation on Foes
What sets Anathema apart from other Archistaves is not its Magick damage or itsKnockdown power, but its ability to inflict the Silence Debilitation on foes. When an enemy is inflicted with the Silence Debilitation, it is unable to cast spells for some time. As such, this particular debuff can turn the tide of battle, even when players are affected by it. This can be especially helpful when fighting Drakes, as they can use spells against the player and their Pawns.
With Anathema equipped,Dragon’s Dogma 2Sorcerersneed only perform a normal attack to potentially Silence their foes. Unfortunately, the chance of Anathema successfully inflicting an enemy with Silence is only 17%. However, there is a 17% chance with every attack, which is significant when considering the benefits it can bring. Such a low proc chance might lead some players to quickly dismiss the weapon, but it is a deceiving number and should be heavily considered before setting the Archistaff aside.
Anathema Is Fairly Easy to Obtain
Despite being one ofDragon’s Dogma 2’s best Archistaves, Anathema is fairly easy to obtain, as players can simply find it out in the open world. There is a method for obtaining Anathema as an extremelyrare drop from a Lich, but it is much easier to simply find it while exploring. That being said, finding Anathema is only easy in the sense that it doesn’t require players to defeat a boss or an otherwise difficult enemy. Unfortunately, players will still need to make a rather long journey into a dangerous area to acquire it.
Anathema can be easily retrieved from a chest inDragonsbreath Tower, which players will visit if they follow through with helping Sigurd defeat the Lesser Dragon that attacked Melve. Though obtaining Anathema simply requires players to open the chest containing it, they will still need to journey to the southern edges of Wyrmsblood Forest in South Battahl and then climb Dragonsbreath Tower. Near where the fight with the Lesser Dragon takes place, players can find the chest containing Anathema behind a breakable wall in the tower.
While better Archistaves can be acquired inDragon’s Dogma 2’s endgame area, theUnmoored World, Anathema is still one of the best to obtain beforehand. As such, Sorcerer players should strive to acquire it as soon as possible.
