Although theDragon Ball Zanime only has a few uses of the titular Dragon Balls throughout its 291-episode run, theDragon Ball Z: Kakarotgame that is based on the show allows players to use the items as many times as they want. But while the Dragon Balls are usually used to undo the deaths and destruction that occur over one of theanime’s many sagas,Dragon Ball Z: Kakarotallows players to be a little more creative with their wishes from Shenron.
One of the ways that players canuse the Dragon Balls inKakarotis to revive any of the game’s many villains and challenge them to a rematch. In most cases, this is just a tactic to revisit some of the game’s more memorable boss fights but it also leads to some funny interactions between characters that would have otherwise never met.

For example, if older Gohan brings King Cold back using the Dragon Balls and then defeats him, the Frieza Force commander will shun his existing kin and take Gohan as his defacto son. It’s a weird alternate version ofDragon Ball Zhistory and the kind of silly fun that Bandai Namco’s game can offer in anopen-world RPG context.
To collect all of the Dragon Balls, players must travel around the various open-world areas inDragon Ball Z: Kakarot. Luckily, the Dragon Balls are always on the map, so players will know exactly where to travel. Seek each Dragon Ball out, collect them all, and then summon Shenron from the game’s menu.
With Shenron summoned, players can then choose to fight King Cold but we recommend doing so withcontrol of Gohanin the endgame portion of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. Upon defeating King Cold, watch for a funny interaction between he and Gohan (shared via screenshots by King on Twitter).
Not all of the interactions between revived villains andDragon Ball Zheroes are as good as this one; in fact, this is arguably the best scene that the game has to offer. Still, it shows that CyberConnect went above and beyond when it came to designing the world ofKakarotand considered how certain characters might interact if they ever crossed paths. Now that fans know that there are fun scenes to be found in the game, though, expect a lot of villain resurrections to take place.
