Dragon Ball Z: Kakarottook some liberties with the story of the first DLC, and many fans took issue with this. Rather than portraying the events ofBattle of Godsaccurately as the game had with the rest of its sagas, Beerus and Whis' introductions werereduced to a boss battleand a couple training regimens. Though fans viewed this change as a negative one for the most part, there is one change that DLC 2 has to make, and that is to not let Whis steal Vegeta’s moment against Golden Frieza.
For those that aren’t familiar with the events ofResurrection F, at the end of the saga (spoiler alert), Frieza manages to destroy the Earth right before Vegeta kills him. As a result of this, Whis decides to reverse time and allow Goku to kill the tyrant before he is able to. Fans were not happy about this outcome, as it felt cheap and didn’t make sense in a lot of ways.Dragon Ball Z: Kakarothas the chance to rectify this mistake and give Vegeta what he deserves, while also providing a scenario of what would have happened if it was Goku that tried finishing Frieza off initially.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot - Golden Frieza
Golden Frieza seems themost likely candidate forDBZ: KakarotDLC 2, but there are a few different ways that Bandai Namco could handle his story. Given that the second DLC will likely follow suit with the first, fans will probably have the option to take on Golden Frieza as either Vegeta or Goku rather than being relegated to the order which the anime and movies played out. It would be cool to see different outcomes depending on who the player uses to fight Frieza with, although this probably won’t be anything more than some unique lines of dialogue.
If the developers do decide to change the ending, it will either be byremoving Whis' roleat the end entirely, simply allowing whoever the player is using to deal the finishing blow, or perhaps even switching the roles. If the player beats Golden Frieza as Goku rather than Vegeta, it could be that Goku’s leniency and willingness to forgive allows Frieza the time to destroy the world and that Whis must send Vegeta back to finish the job. This outcome would match their character traits better no doubt.
Of course, more likely than either of these scenarios, this entire scene will just be cut. The first DLC cut out nearly every story element from theplot ofBattle of Gods, instead opting to mysteriously teleport Goku and Vegeta to what seems to be a different timeline altogether and train with them. Golden Frieza’s arrival probably won’t have the same stakes as it did in the show, as the fight will be replayable in the same way that Beerus is. How this is explained remains to be seen, though.
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot DLC 2 Could Skip Golden Frieza
All that said, it is also possible thatDragon Ball Z: Kakarotwill opt to skip Golden Frieza entirely, bringing the second DLC spot to Hit instead. In this case, the entire problem is negated, although there will be some gaps to fill in (like how the Saiyans unlock the Super Saiyan Blue form). There is some precedent for this, as a leak claimed that thenew story arc would be the Future Trunks Saganot long ago, but nothing is set in stone until an official announcement is made.
