The news was broken by Noah Outlaw, host ofKessel Run Radio, who revealed that his sources had said that Glover would be returning to the role for a Disney+ series. For now, the news is not officially confirmed, and little else known. After the success ofThe Mandalorian, it is possible that Disney sees the value in having another big name show for their streaming service, which could justify the reportedly significant cost of bringing back Donald Glover.

Solo: A Star Wars Storyreleased in theaters to poor sales, and under-preformed significantly compared to otherStar Warsprojects, leading to Disney’s decision to scrap several other spin-off projects and focus on the main sequel trilogy of movies. After the release ofStar Wars: Rise of Skywalker, however, there are no currently announced plans for what the nextStar Warsfilm to hit theaters will be, especially in light of the coronavirus pandemic, which has made it difficult for any projects to be filmed or released.

While there are still no concrete details on what story this new Disney+ series will be telling, or when it will be released, it is certainly exciting to see Donald Glover get another shot at playing an iconicStar Warsrole. Hopefully the project will be officially announced soon, and with any luck, it’ll live up to its promise.
