Following the most recentDestiny 2update, players discover that the exotic fusion rifle Telesto doesn’t quite feel the same as it did previously. As fans have come to know over the years,Telesto has a long and storied history of breakingDestiny 2. Issues with the gun seem to stem from its unique behavior with each bolt fired being considered unique by the game’s engine, typically resulting in full on game crashes, making allies invulnerable to damage, and breaking certain mechanics like the Blind Well activity in the Dreaming City.
Time and time again, Bungie manages to fix the weapon, though the cycle has seemingly been broken as of late with Telesto having gone quiet for quite some time. However,Destiny 2Update 7.1.0.3made a slight tweak to the weapon along with the Sweet Business auto rifle to prevent their explosive rounds from damaging enemies through walls or other objects. While this was seemingly a smaller change, players have begun noticing that Telesto now feels a bit off from how it typically does.

A new thread was created by a user named Treatments_157 on theDestiny 2subReddit regarding this very issue. Calling themselves an avid Telesto enthusiast, Treatment called themselves someone who uses Telesto in most activities PvE and PvP related. After downloading the recentDestiny 2update, they ran a few tests after the gun felt a bit off, discovering that the fix Bungie described may have just been to increase the hit box that Telesto bolts can attach to objects while keeping the splash damage hitbox the same. Thus, the damage clipping issue seems to have been solved, but as a result, the bolts tend to hover higher than they used to.
With the Telesto bolts not sinking in as far, the bolts are further spread apart which creates much more damage inconsistency and even having them connect with the target at all. While this issue isn’t nearly as big as some previousTelesto related issues inDestiny 2, Treatment’s claims were backed up by many other users in the comments who had similar experiences after the update. As many indicated, it seems Bungie found a workaround for the issue rather than outright fixing it which seems to work better for traditional bullets from Sweet Business, but doesn’t fit as well for the bolt throwing Telesto.
In the meantime, players have also started experiencing a rise in server instability, which is frustrating for an online only game. While players worry about being kicked in the middle of an event, activity, or difficult content, Bungie has acknowledged the issues and is working onresolving the rise inDestiny 2server issues. The company indicated it isn’t a quick fix as doing something the wrong way could have even more damaging effects on the game itself.
Destiny 2is currently available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
