With how loot-drivenDestiny 2can typically be, players can sometimes fall victim to the worst RNG possible with either a lack of loot drops or terrible stat-roll gear, and one player fell victim to the latter after grinding the first week of Iron Banner in Season of Defiance.Iron Bannerhas been home to plenty of desirable gear, whether it be a god roll Riiswalker shotgun or some of the most cosmetically popular armor. However, a poor stat or perk roll can quickly take the winds out of a player’s sails and one player wasn’t shy in sharing the poor stroke of luck they got to experience from on weapon drop in particular.
The first Iron Banner followingLightfall’s release saw the return of the Jorum’s Claw pulse rifle and Bite of the Fox sniper rifle to the activity’s loot pool. Jorum’s Claw was originally introduced inDestiny 2’s first expansion,Curse of Osiris, before being vaulted at the release ofBeyond Lightwhile Bite of the Fox was introduced in Season of Arrivals and had not been vaulted. Both weapons have returned or Season of Defiance, now dropping with origin traits and refreshed perk pools to fit within the game’s current sandbox.

Along with the new weapons, Iron Banner’s return insideSeason of Defiancesaw the activity undergo the same engram focusing and fireteam matchmaking reworks Bungie deployed across several activities withLightfall’s release. The new weapons and engram focusing, in particular, have given plenty of incentive to players to hop in to farm for god rolls. Reddit user Independent_Chair578, though, did not get a god roll Jorum’s Claw after playing Iron Banner “all day,” and instead got one with the worst possible reload speed stat possible.
Weapons dropping with a zero stat roll is not unusual inDestiny 2due to the RNG systems constantly at work, making it a consistent point of frustration for players grinding hours on hours for that one god roll. It does not mean the weapon completely lacks said trait, but is the lowest possible rating it can have to the point of potentially being detrimental to the weapon’s use. Reload speed, in particular, appears to be the one stat which drops at a zero most consistently due to the presence of reload speed masterworks andperks such as Drop Magwhich provide a massive boost to reload at the cost of magazine size to make up for the extremely slow reload speed.
Ultimately, all players can do is scrap the weapon and keep grinding for a god roll when the weapon’s stats are that undesirable. The presence of weapon crafting sinceThe Witch Queenhas helped counter this, giving players more control over how some of their weapons play. That said, there are still plenty of desirable weapons in the game not available to craft players will have to suffer the grind for to land that one perfect drop.
