Season of Dawn just began inDestiny 2, introducing a new season of content includingThe Sundial seasonal activity, new exotics, and more to come over the course of the next few months. The start of the season means that as all this new content is added to the game, players are able to look at items in the game’s database via sites like light.gg. And it is oftentimes the “Classified” items that draw attention and speculation from fans.

And Season of Dawn is no different, withDestiny 2players discovering a few unknown items in the database that might signal a secret quest and the return of a heavy weapon fromDestiny 1. While there is only a little bit to go on, the items do seem to fit the pattern of how similar quests have come to the game in the past.

Specifically, there is a quest item calledFallen Intelas well asa Classified exoticweapon that has the description identifying it as a heavy weapon. Of course, most players jump to the immediate theory that it must signal the return of one ofDestiny 1’s most powerful exotic heavy weapons, Gjallarhorn, which would fit in with Season 9 to some extent.

First off, Season 9 is heavily focused on the game’s solar elements, withreworks to some of the game’s solar subclass treesas well as many of The Lantern of Osiris' artifact mods buffing solar abilities. Not only that, the narrative is leading players back to the legendary character Saint-14, who, according to Destiny lore, was involved in the old battles of the Last City, including the Battle of Twilight Gap, from which Gjallarhorn was forged. It would certainly make a nice tie-in, although that is some heavy speculation and theory-crafting based on these two unknown items.

The Fallen Intel item is very similar to the item that was involved inthe Outbreak Perfected quest, a weapon that was also brought over fromDestiny 1. However, there are other Destiny 1 exotic heavy weapons that have yet to be brought over to Destiny 2. They are Nova Mortis, Abbadon, Nemesis Star, Super Good Advice, Raze-Lighter, Dark-Drinker, Bolt-Caster, The Young Wolf’s Howl, and Dragon’s Breath. Obviously, there are a lot of options that remain.

Plus, there is no confirmation that this Classified exotic is necessarily a reprise of aDestiny 1weapon at all. At this point, all that is known is that the exotic heavy weapon being introduced in Season 9. The other known exotics in Season 9 are the Symmetry scout rifle, Bastion fusion rifle, and Devil’s Ruin sidearm. Obviously, none of those are heavy weapons and they already exist in the database, so whatever this Classified one is will be introduced as a surprise at some point duringSeason of Dawn.
