Like many things inDestiny 2, getting theForerunner’s catalyst, however, is a very long and grindy process that involves Dares of Eternity and Xur. Here’s how to fully complete the Magnum Opus questline and unlock theForerunner’s catalyst.
Destiny 2: How To UnlockForerunnerCatalyst
The following conditions need to be met for the player to be able to unlock the catalyst for theForerunner:
In order to obtain theForerunnercatalyst, players need to reach Rank 16 with Xur, who can be found in his Treasure Hoard on Eternity. This means that players that are looking to improve their Forerunners will need to spend quite a bit of time inDestiny 2’s Dares of Eternityactivity. It is at that rank thatplayers will be able to obtain the Anomalous Access Card from Xur, which will unlock a brand-new quest related to theForerunner, titledMagnus Opus II. This quest requiresplayers to complete the Dares of Eternity activity on Legend difficulty, with an outstanding score of 225,000 points or more.

After this, players will need tovisit Banshee-44, who will reward them theForerunnercatalyst.
How To Complete TheForerunnerCatalyst
Receiving the catalyst from Banshee-44 is one thing, but actually applying it on theForerunnerrequires players to unlock it. In order to do so,players will need to score 700 eliminationswith theForerunnerinDestiny 2.
Using it in Dares of Eternityis a good way to farm kills fast, butcompleting Altars of Sorrow on the Moonif players have theShadowkeepexpansion is also efficient. Some players also recommendloading up the Shuro-Chi encounter from the Last Wish raid, which features tons of Taken enemies for players to farm just about any weapon catalyst they want.

Destiny 2: What Does TheForerunnerCatalyst Do
TheForerunnercatalyst bestowsa unique perk upon the exotic sidearm, which is called the Rock. This perk allows players toconsume part of their ammo reserves to turn their next thrown grenade into a fragmentation grenade, though it can only be activated for a short time after dealing a final blow.Destiny 2fansthat are curious can see this in action at the beginning of the video that is above.
For those players that were unaware, theForerunnersidearm is inspired by themagnum fromHalo, andthe Rock perk is undoubtedly a reference to the frag grenades that are featured in that legendary series.

While that does not change anything about the functionality of theForerunnercatalyst, its association withHalomay help keep fans motivated. Indeed, earning the Anomalous Access Card is quite a grind, and players that are working toward it will need both patience and persistence.
Is TheForerunnerGood In Destiny 2?
Though theForerunneris by no means a popular weapon in PvP or PvE, players can still make great use of it if they enjoy a niche playstyle in Destiny 2.Bungie recently buffed theForerunner’s ammo pick-up rate. Now, players are able to pick up three bricks of Special ammo instead of the traditional two.
