In terms of bugs and glitches, Season of Dawn has seen anunusually high amount of problems. The trend began in December with numerous issues making it into the game including bugged weapons, quests that could prevent progress from being earned, and even the Obelisk in the EDZ not letting players interact with it to progress seasonal content. Unfortunately, this week’s update also caused another wave of issues for players including one that forced Bungie to start emergency maintenance onDestiny 2in order to correct a bug that deleted player resources and upgrade materials. As players have reported, another bug which was supposed to be fixed is apparently worse now than it was.

At the start of January, Titan players began discussing a glitch inside ofDestiny 2that could be exploited for massive amounts of damage. Whileusing the Wormgod Caress exotic, players could build a stack of melee buffs that was supposed to go away after a short amount of time. However, by swapping to a different set of armor when the X5 stack was active and then switching back to the exotic, the buff remained active indefinitely. The Winter’s Guile exotics for Warlocks had a similar bug which players could trigger as well.

According to the patch notes for update 2.7.1, this unintended behavior was supposed to be fixed and the buff would expire as expected. However, after testing, players began posting on online and in theDestiny 2sub-Reddit to not only say that the gear pieces weren’t fixed, the issue was actually buffed. NotableDestiny 2player Esoterickk captured video of the exotics in action by simply melting major enemies at the Tribute Hall. In fact, the latest update prevented the buff from expiring from anything but dying or swapping to a different piece of armor.

Late last night, the official Bungie Help Twitter account posted an update, saying that Winter’s Guile and Wormgod Caress were being disabled until a proper fix could be applied. This is the second time this month that these exotics were removed from the game, joining the likes of Telesto as exotic gear to be removedduring the Season of Dawn.

It seems that the updated caused a lot of chaos this week outside of the emergency maintenance. Due to a necessary character save rollback to solve the inventory glitch, players lost any progress made from 8:30AM and 10:20AM PST after the update went live. New information about the upcoming Empryrean Foundation mission was also obtained thanks to dataminers digging through update files as well asa mysterious new mission called Worthyappearing for certain players. While it is currently unplayable due to being tied to an unobtainable triumph for now, the mission appears to confirm a number of interesting details as to what players will be doing.

Destiny 2is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
