Crytek recently announced that the remaster of its legacy first-person shooterCrysiswould be delayed after footage leaked online that brought mixed reactions from fans. However, a new update from the studio has revealed thatCrysis Remasteredon Nintendo Switch will still be released on the original launch date of July 23.
Since its launch in 2007, the firstCrysisgame was renowned for its unbelievable graphics, which often required hardware with huge specs to run the game. Hence, expectations for a remaster of the game were high.Crytek had intended to reveal a new gameplay trailerearlier in July, but after a leak spread the footage online players quickly made their opinions known. Crytek then released a revised statement saying the studio would listen to fan reactions going forward and would delay the release ofCrysis Remasteredto allow more time to polish the game.

At the time of the announcement,Crytek said that the release would be delayed on all platforms, but seeing as preorders were already live for Nintendo users they would remain open. It seems that was a good choice as the release ofCrysis Remasteredfor Switch now has an official release date of July 23.
In Crytek’s delay announcement, it did seem the studio would be focusing more on the polish for PC and console renditions, so an earlier release for Switch isn’t too surprising. The fact that aNintendo Switch will be able to handleCrysisis already a huge achievement and the officialCrysiswebsite has debuted some gameplay footage showing how well the game has transitioned to the Nintendo console.
When a release date for PC and consoles can be expected is uncertain, but Crytek did say it would need a few more weeks to enhance the game so it can live up to its infamous PC and console-breaking standards. It’s possible any more polish on the Switch rendition of the game would render the console unable to handle it, therefore, Switch owners will be able to enjoy the game a bit earlier. The originalCrysistrilogy has also recently becomeavailable on EA Accessfor players who wish to relive the series on Xbox before the remastered release.
The Nintendo Switch has become home to many classic game ports recently with the likes ofBioShockandBorderlandsmaking their way to the platform. Now that theSwitch can also runCrysisit’s a sign that the family-friendly console is really becoming a platform for all players. Hopefully, fans won’t have to wait too long past the Switch release for the remaster ofCrysisto test their PC’s and consoles once again.
