Video games have a unique way of bringing people together. Co-op games in particular allow players to bond, get to know each other, and even create lasting relationships. It’s not uncommon to hear of fans meeting through video games then tying the knot, and even inviting their in-game friends to the festivities in real life.
Unfortunately, not a lot of games have marriage systems between players enabled. But there are active games with a huge scope of activities and constant updates that do allow inter-player unions, in addition to marriage-exclusive quests. Some allow players to cohabitate and build homes together, while others encourage close and cozy co-op through long sessions.

As co-op is one of the main draws of these genres, it makes sense to allow couples to reflect on their real-life status in-game. It also gives incentive to players looking to unlock every aspect of the game to get silly with it and hit up a friend to go through the ceremony.
What setsRoots of Pachaapart from other farming sims is its prehistoric setting. By setting it in the Stone Age, developer Soda Den refreshed age-old mechanics such as anadvanced ranching system. Other mechanics like trades and exchanges reinforce the game’s emphasis on community, which the multiplayer system contributes to.
Players can form unions with other players the same way they do with NPCs. They must first have an upgraded house with a double bed, and then craft a union wreath. Unlike in single-player mode, the recipe for union wreaths is always available in multiplayer.

Adventure RPG
NeverAfteris a mobile adventure RPG game styled afterMMORPGs of old. Players can collect fantasy versions of fairy tale characters like Little Red Riding Hood and mounts for combat and exploration. They can also form clans with other players to undergo campaigns or hang out.
An August update back in 2022 introduced marriages to the game. Through the Couple System Update, couples who are level 40 and above with 520 Friendship can initiate marriage. After proposing with a True Love Silver Ring from the Shop, the couple can confirm their engagement and set their wedding with Cupid. Couples can then choose to invite friends to their wedding, which takes five to 15 minutes to complete.
Stardew Valleyfans rejoiced when the multiplayer mode came out; doubly so when they figured out how to marry each other in-game.Compared to NPC marriages, player marriages are a little easier to arrange. Players don’t have to fill up hearts or worry about unlocking heart events either.
All players have to do is craft a Wedding Ring for their spouse-to-be. The recipe for Wedding Rings is available from the Traveling Cart only in multiplayer mode. Players must then craft five iridium rings and find one prismatic shard to make the ring. A wedding ceremony will take place three days after players give the ring to their partner if they accept.
Final Fantasy 14allows players to get hitched through the Ceremony of Eternal Bonding, regardless of their gender or race. However, they must play from the same home world and complete the main story quest “The Scions of the Seventh Dawn”.

Players must then go to any Shrine of Mara, use the Pledge while facing each other, and click “Accept” in the pop-up that appears. Once married, partners get a neat 10% exp boost when wearing their Rings of Mara while adventuring in-group with their spouse.

MMORPG
Maple Storystill has an active user base despite having a sequel andcoming out 20 years ago. One of the mechanics that maintained their popularity today is marriage. Much like other games, marrying your romantic or platonic partner confers in-game bonuses, and even unlocks exclusive quests. To start the wedding, players must purchase a Wedding Ticket in-game, which can then be used to go to the Wedding Hall dungeon for the ceremony. Characters with Wedding Tickets can then use them to propose to other characters.
Guests can be invited to the ceremony, which can be started by the Wedding Ticket user. Receptions take place immediately after ceremonies, after which couples and guests alike receive rewards. If players don’t find marriage rewards, which they will continue to receive after the ceremony or find their partnership has lapsed, they can file for divorce.
Riftmay have a small player base, but it still has enough active players to hold its servers up. Players also still get married, even if it’s not at a frequency that can top its 2012 feat of breaking the Guinness world record formost MMO marriagesin a day.
Marriage inRiftstarts with buying a Marriage Contract from the Marriage Coordinator. Once players use the contract on their partner, and both parties agree to marry, the ceremony is sealed. Players may also opt to buy a Wedding Ceremony Instance Creator if they wish to have a ceremony, but they will need agame with an active player basefor a group celebration.
