Classroom of the Elitefocuses on the students of the Tokyo Metropolitan Advanced Nurturing School, a school that boasts a 100% employment and college acceptance rate. This school trains students to be the future leaders of Japan. Most of the spotlight shines on Class D students as they make an effort to rise through the ranks before they graduate. Season 3 begins with them being Class C students, rising above and with the previous Class C coming down.
InClassroom of the Elite, every class has a representative who leads them and stands for them. However, there are some representatives who can move and control people and things to work in favor of their class. In this school, there is power in unity. Class representatives must act as a unifying bond to keep their classmates together as they try to advance and eventually graduate.
5Yosuke Hirata
An Upcoming Leader With Great Potential
Hirata is the class representative of Class D (now Class C), and he is very fortunate to have people like Ayanokoji and Suzune around him. Class D still struggles to unite as one, but their efforts are not in vain, as it pays off with them moving up a class.
What makes Hirata powerful are the people around him and his ability to take the lead. Without Ayanokoji or Suzune, their class would have lost Ken Sudo a few weeks after the resumption.It is also Ayanokojiwho knocks Hirata out of his meltdown state during the fire outbreak on the island, and Hirata is quick to keep instructing his mates and guiding them on what to do during the downpour. Hirata also has a friendly personality, which makes it easy for him to interact with others. He is the type of leader who does not look down on others, values their opinions, and tries to implement their ideas or give them the chance to do so.
4Kakeru Ryuen
Feared Leader
Class C (now D) students are under the harsh regime of Ryuen, the class representative. Other classes know of Ryuen and are wary of him. He uses fear to control his classmates, thus making him powerful. During the survival test, viewers see Ryuen successfully deploy two of his classmates to act as spies in the other classes. His plan to get the various leaders of each class was flawless, but was unsuccessfulbecause of Ayanokojo’s intervention, and his class came in last. Unfortunately for Ryuen, his regime ends afterAyanokoji beats himand his crew up. Class C loses balance, allowing Class D to overtake them.
It may seem like Ryuen is more focused on enjoying himself than advancing his classmates, but he puts effort into the class activities, as seen during the survival test and the special test on the crew. He tries to get information to help his class or himself from people by intimidating, manipulating, or torturing them — like when he tortures Karuizawa to reveal the name of the mastermind.
3Honami Ichinose
Kind Leader
Ichinose seems to genuinely have a good heart. She does not believe in the use of violence, fear, or intimidation to gain respect from others. It is because of her sweet personality thatshe is able to unite her class membersunder her leadership as the class representative. Class B students are cooperative because they trust her, and Suzune notices during the survival test.
What makes Ichinse powerful is her willingness to interact with everyone — her teachers, classmates, and even students from other classes. She does not look down on anyone, and unlike others, she follows the rules of the school without looking for loopholes. Another thing to note is her negotiation skills. She watches out for her classmates and will do anything to prevent their expulsion. Ichinose has also managed to acquire over two million points, which proves that although she is sweet and kind, she knows how to move and work things to favor her, as points are not easy to get in this school.
2Kohei Katsurugi
Right-Hand Man
Katsuragi is one of the class representatives of Class A, but after his performance during the survival test that makes his class come in third, he loses some hold over his classmates, and Arisu Sakayanagi gains more power over him. He accepts defeat and takes his new position beneath her.
Katsuragi has an intimidating look that makes him look powerful, and his placement in Class A makes him worthy of respect. Katsuragi looks out for his classmates, as a leader should, but he also looks out for people who are not in his class,like Ken Sudoand even Horikita Suzune. His observation is seen when he tells Ayanokoji to tell Suzune to be careful of Ryuen, as he is out to get her.
1Arisu Sakayanagi
Small But Mighty
As the saying goes, one shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. Anyone who judges Sakayanagi based on her cute and petite look is making a great mistake. Arisu Sakayanagi is the class representative for Class A. What makes Sakayanagi powerful is that she chooses her battles wisely. During the Paper Shuffle Exams, she decides to go after Class B, an equally strong class but not as strong as Class A, but Katsurugi wants Class D because they are much weaker. Katsurugi goes with Sakanagi’s choice without hesitation, because he knows that she is more powerful and going against her is not wise.
Sakayanagi does not waste her time fighting unnecessarily like Ryuen does. She establishes dominance over the school quite early,something Ryuen wishedhe was able to do. Now, Ryuen is determined to take down Sakayanagi. Her place in Class A tells fans what they need to know about her, academically and intellectually. Class A is at the top and never lacking in points, because they are under the leadership of Sakayanagi.
