Call of Duty: Warzonehas had its fair share of seasonal events, from the spooky Haunting of Verdansk to the story-focused Hunt for Adler. Now, two massive and iconic creatures have found their way to Caldera, asCall of Duty: Warzoneplayers can do battle with King Kong and Godzilla.
ThisCall of Duty: Warzoneevent has proven to be quite divisive since its release, with streamers andcontent creators like NICKMERCSand Dr Disrespect criticizing it for a few different reasons. Still, some players are enjoying it, and it as least worth trying out due to the spectacle alone. Before players load into a match of Operation Monarch, though, they will want to keep a few things in mind.

Operation Monarch’s Ruleset
The most important thing to keep in mind about Operation Monarch is that, despite the shocking sight of giant monsters, the main goal is still that of a traditionalbattle royalemode: being the last team alive. As such, while there are reasons to shoot at the monsters and other players, it could be best to avoid conflict and focus on gearing up for the first several minutes of the match.
Operation Monarch follows resurgence rules, which should be familiar toRebirth Islandplayers. For those that are not as familiar with the concept, this means that players are able to respawn after a certain amount of time as long as someone in their group is still alive. The surviving player getting kills will speed up the respawn timer, adding a risk reward mechanic to incentivize players to risk a fight. Sometimes, though, it will just be best to hide until the team returns. This mode features 60 players and a smaller portion of Caldera.

Operation Monarch’s unique feature is intel, which can be found through crates and picked up from dead enemies. It can also be acquired from damaging Kong and Godzilla. Collecting intel will fill up a meter like the one seen in theCall of Duty: WarzoneLTMPower Grab. As players fill up the bar, they will unlock loadout drops and killstreaks. Once the bar is full, players can command a very special killstreak that briefly gives them control of King Kong or Godzilla.
How The Titans Work in Operation Monarch
Thekillstreakin question is called the S.C.R.E.A.M. device, and it allows players to use either a Heat Ray from Godzilla or a ground pound from King Kong. Once they have one of these killstreaks, players can mark a spot on the map, telling the creatures where to attack. Once marked, everything in the area will be hit, with these attacks being incredibly effective. Only one S.C.R.E.A.M. device can be used at a time, though, ensuring that Kong and Godzilla are not constantly attacking the player.
At the start of the match and once during it, the two Titans will enter Titan Frenzy. While enraged, both creatures will use a flurry of attacks, with Godzilla spamming his Heat Ray andKongjumping around the map to damage a number of areas. While players can run away, the group that does the most damage to the monsters will automatically be given a S.C.R.E.A.M. device. Neither creature can be killed, however.

While players can fight and flee from Kong and Godzilla, they will sadly not get to see them interact with one another. This has beencriticized by Callof Duty: Warzoneplayers, as the monsters were seen fighting in the reveal trailer and the event used the Godzilla vs. Kong marketing. Perhaps they will do battle at the end of the event on May 25, but as of now players should not be expecting to see the two duke it out when they load into an Operation Monarch game.

To celebrate this event, three special bundles have been added to the game. The first two bundles focus on Godzilla and Kong respectively. It also provides the Breath of Godzilla Mastercraft weapon, which fires blue Tracer rounds. An LMG blueprint is also included alongside the usual cosmetics like Calling Cards and Emblems.

The Tracer rounds for two of these weapons are described as “jungle green,” while fans of theGodzilla vs. Kongmovie can wield a familiar blue axe named “Kong’s Sceptor.” The final bundle is forMechagodzilla, and it comes with the robotic lizard alongside two blueprints.
