Summary
An upcoming playlist preview insideCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 3reveals the exact date when Shipment makes its aniticpated return to the online shooter. Maps have been a controversial aspect toModern Warfare 3as the game launched with 16 maps, all of which were taken from 2009’sModern Warfare 2. While the maps themselves have been slightly updated and improved visually, many fans were surprised and disappointed that the experience didn’t come with any brand-new maps to check out.
It may have taken a little longer than normal, but Season 1 aims to rectify that after announcing the arrival of three 6v6 maps and 1 Gunfight map, all of which are brand-new. Then in a question and answer session on Reddit,Sledgehammer Games announced that the popular Shipment mapis also on the way, but specifically left out when players could expect to see it return. Although many assumed Shipment would launch inside of Season 1, this week’s playlist update gaveCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 3players the exact answer they were looking for.

In typical Call of Duty fashion, the game consistently gets weekly updates to its playlists, keeping things fresh to ensure that its player base continues to log in each day. This week offered a unique change of pace asSledgehammer Games activated a Double XP event for the long weekend, which includes the US holiday Thanksgiving. Alongside that, players can check out Gun Game, 10v10 Mosh Pit, and Rust 24/7, but the big reveal for many was a preview of playlists coming next week.
Shipment Map Release Date
Alongside the playlist update, two new tiles were added to give players a look at what’s ahead, which includes a new playlist called Rustment 24/7, which combines both small maps of Rust and Shipment together, as well as a dedicated playlist that only features the Highrise map. Timers on each of the grayed outCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 3playlists indicate that both will be available alongside next week’s update on November 29.
While there are many happy to see the return of Shipment, others remain a bit skeptical due to what many feel is an overly strong skill-based matchmaking system. Fans want to see adjustments made to the system, though it doesn’t seem as that is in the plans currently for Sledgehammer Games who avoided answering any direct questions about it during its Q&A session, instead revealing thatModern Warfare 3is testing a permanent lobby system, which would keep players together instead of matchmaking new games after each game ends.
