Call of Duty: Warzonemay currently be in the middle of a huge Zombies Outbreak event, but it seems like this will not be the only huge attraction inside the mode this year. According to prominent leaker Tom Henderson,Call of Duty: Warzonewill also be used to showcase the reveal trailer for 2021’sCall of Dutygame.

This is not the first time that Tom Henderson has discussedthis year’sCall of Dutyrelease, as he has specified several features of the game. According to Henderson, the game will be “gritty and controversial,” with Sledgehammer Games serving as its developer. It will also be a boots on the ground game and have integration withCall of Duty: Warzone. This integration will not be the only similarity the 2021 title has to the latestBlack Ops, however, as it will apparently follow the same path in terms of its reveal, too.

According to a new post from Henderson, the game will be revealed sometime near August, lining up withCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s first showing. Revealed far later than usual, this new format gave players more time to enjoyCall of Duty: Modern Warfare’spost-launch seasons of content. It also allowed players to stay hyped forCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warright up until release, as the format saw an alpha and beta quickly going live after the reveal.

Based on this rumor,Call of Duty2021 will also be pulling from the way thatCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warwas revealed. A special in-game event that saw players teased for several weeks, the final reveal saw fans gathering in-game to complete a special mission and unlock the game’s first trailer. With this year’sCall of Dutysupposedlyfocusing on Guerrilla warfare, it is easy enough to picture how its themes and story can be tied into a battle royale game.

Henderson does not specify what the reveal event will look like, as it will likely be a long time before leakers learn anything about the content of theCall of Duty2021 event. With 2020’s reveal including an external website filled with puzzles to complete and videos to watch, as well as updates to older games, it will be hard to top in terms of complexity. At the very least, though, players can expect some special locations to be added to theCall of Duty: Warzonemapif the event happens.

With Henderson also suggesting that aZombies-onlyCall of DutyGameis in development, there seems to be a lot of new content in the works for one of gaming’s biggest franchises. Until official confirmation is given, though, these leaks should be taken with a grain of salt.

Call of Duty: Warzoneis available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
